📢 Important Update for Patients – From 1 July

From 1 July, Medicare requirements are changing. Following your consultation, patients will be required to assign their Medicare benefits before a claim can be processed. This allows us to continue bulk billing eligible consultations rather than charging the patient.

This process may occur in one of two ways:

✅ Signing a paper form at the clinic (as many patients have done previously), or

✅ Receiving a secure text message from HotDoc after your appointment.

This requirement applies to all bulk-billed services, including telephone consultations, such as when a doctor calls to discuss your results.

If you receive a HotDoc text message, you will be asked to confirm your Date of Birth to verify your identity and accept to assign your Medicare benefit to the GP.

⚠️ Please note: HotDoc will NEVER ask for your bank account details, credit card information, or any payment details via text message.

If you have any questions about this new process, please contact us at Loxton Health Centre.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we implement these Medicare changes.

We’re excited to share a little more about how Dr A***n Javidi has joined our team at Loxton Health Centre and what his supervision pathway will look like.

Dr A***n Javidi is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who completed his medical training in Iran. After gaining experience overseas, he chose to continue his medical career here in Australia — and we are very pleased that his journey has brought him to our community in Loxton.

HOW DID DR JAVIDI COME TO LOXTON?
Like many IMGs, Dr Javidi applied to work in Australia through a formal medical registration pathway. As part of this process:

✔️ His qualifications were assessed
✔️ He met national registration standards including passing written examinations from the Australian Medical Council and passing a clinical interview
✔️ He secured an approved position in an area of workforce need

Regional communities like ours play an important role in welcoming highly skilled international doctors. These pathways help strengthen rural healthcare services while ensuring doctors are well supported.

WHAT ARE HIS SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS?
All IMGs working in Australia are required to practise under supervision for a period of time. This is a standard requirement and is designed to:

• Ensure patient safety
• Support doctors to adapt to the Australian healthcare system
• Familiarise them with local clinical guidelines and processes
• Provide structured mentoring and professional support

Dr Javidi will be working under an approved supervision plan with experienced senior GPs. For the first 3 months all patients seen by Dr Javidi will undergo a review with a senior doctor at the Loxton Health Centre prior to leaving the clinic. Additionally he will have case discussions and ongoing assessment to ensure he transitions to the Australian system smoothly. As he demonstrates competency within the Australian system, his level of independence will gradually increase.

Supervision is not a reflection of skill — it is a structured and supportive process that all IMGs complete as part of becoming fully registered in Australia.

We are confident Dr Javidi will be a wonderful addition to our team and community, and we look forward to supporting him as he begins in March.

Please join us in welcoming Dr A***n Javidi to Loxton 💙
