I'm off to the dentist this morning!

It's amazing to think that at some point, like many people, I HATED going to the dentist. I put it off constantly and, at one point, there may have been a gap of about a decade between visits!

Now I visit the dentist every six months and it is a non-negotiable.

In fact, I look forward to it. I've got great dentists, it gives me a chance to just relax and I love the feeling of my clean teeth straight afterwards.

It's amazing how a change in mindset can take a horrible experience and make it one that you can even look forward to.

What is confidence? When you think about it, "confidence" is not really an action but more something you have once you have other skills like competence, acceptance, resilience, and courage firmly developed.

People say that they need to be 'more confident'. How much more confident? How do you know when you're confident enough? What does 'being more confident' look like, sound like, feel like? Is it really 'more confidence' that you need, or is that just what you perceive as lacking?

Confident people don't sit around thinking about how confident they are. They just do it. They still make mistakes. They still learn. They still step outside of the comfort zone and scare the s**t out of themselves. They still feel that fear and do it anyway. Confidence is the reward that comes from having the courage to step outside the comfort zone often and to embrace whatever there is to learn.

Step outside the comfort zone repeatedly over time and discover that the boundaries continue to shift more and more. What scared you yesterday becomes easy today. Practice makes perfect.

Sure, you can stay small and not do anything for fear of getting it wrong. Stay small and then you'll never have to sit with the feeling of not knowing enough or not being good enough. Or you can chase what it is that truly excites you and brings you life to LIFE! The choice is yours. Don't chase confidence, just do it.
