Hello friends and clients, we feel sad to let you know that our long time SLP Bek is going to transfer to another SLP pathway, finishing up in a few weeks time, so all the best to her.

But in the meantime a search begins for a replacement, so please share this role with your networks.

New research shows the NDIS may be easing pressure on the health system - shifting nearly $27 million a year in mental health costs alone.

The study looked at how people use health services after joining the NDIS. It found participants used fewer Medicare-funded mental health and allied health services, likely because their NDIS plans were covering them instead.

This is a reminder: the NDIS isn’t just a cost. It’s an investment - in people, in community, and in reducing pressure elsewhere.

As governments debate the future of the NDIS, evidence like this needs to be front and centre.

From an AGOSCI friend ....

Fund AAC in the NDIS!

I am advocating for clearer, fairer access to communication supports within the NDIS. This year, many speech pathologists, families and participants have faced increasing barriers and confusing rules around Assistive Technology — particularly high-tech AAC.
I have launched a petition calling for the NDIS to properly fund essential AAC devices so that non-speaking and minimally speaking Australians are not left without a voice. I have also written to our local MP and to Mark Butler (Minister for Health, Ageing, Disability and the NDIS) to raise these concerns.
If this issue affects you, your clients, or your family, I would be incredibly grateful if you could sign and share. Every signature strengthens the message that communication is a human right.
Thank you so much for your support.
