If you haven't yet found The Limb Shift, get on over and catch up on all the stories and experiences shared with James O'Brien.

What’s it like to be born with a limb difference? Or to suddenly lose a limb—or even all four?
My new podcast answers those exact questions and more.
Launching during Amputee Awareness Week (first week of October) with five full episodes, followed by fresh episodes every week.
You can subscribe, or tell friends about it, by getting them to visit thelimbshift.com (which has preview audio). You can also tell them about https://www.facebook.com/thelimbshift

Did you know that living outside metro can increase your chance of amputation caused by disease or health conditions.
And it's not just the over 60's.

And here is the important part... that amputation likely didn't stop the disease.

And now everything you want to do, need to do, gets harder.
Who's going to come to you and help?

Even getting help is harder.

You'll be in very good hands.

The day is led by Australian Surfing Champion Jade 'Red' Wheatley alongside the Newcastle Surf School team, and our ForMotion crew will be on site as well. Safety and support come first, and the fun follows.

Amputation is often misunderstood or misrepresented.

Can you think of all the movies and TV shows where an amputee is anything other than unstoppable and inspirational?

Fell off our dragon, got up the next day. Saved people in a burning tower. Captained a sh*****ng boat in the Mississippi. Walked the decks of a pirate ship or had that bionic marvel to fight crime.

The everyday is not so glamorous. Some days it's tough, it hurts, we cry, we get angry, we scream, we suffer in silence, we hide away from others. Today I can walk but tomorrow I can only crawl.

There are complexities to simple actions that only other amputees will deeply understand.

But stick around and see what truths come to light.

Thousands of Australia's every year experience the unimaginable.
Understanding a journey comes first by recognising that you may have no understanding of the experience.
And there is no experience you have in life that can prepare you for it. Once you have it there is no going back.
Not a disease, Not a disorder, It was the Solution, the only option left that Saves your Life.
Amputation isn't just a mechanical injury, its not just a neurological one, its a Lonely One.

Wound Awareness Week begins today! Thousands of Australian live daily with wounds, breakdowns in their skin, compromising their health and yet dismissing the risk. Our skin is an amazing organ, keeping out the nasties of the germ world, day in day out, the silent protector, our special suit of armour. It's time to stop and give some care to that hero of the story. While thousands dismiss a scratch, a bruise or red spot, for many more Australians the reality of skin break down as an amputee is something far more impactful.

Get Wound Wise! SOS: Save Our Skin and keep living life by caring for yourself with prevention.

💙Wound Awareness Week is next week!

From 28 September-4 October, we’re calling on Australians to SOS: Save Our Skin and help spread the word about wound prevention, care and early action.
