A bit of fun in the clinic yesterday as the team trialled some new exoskeleton and robotic-assistive technology.

These systems are designed to support or guide movement, which may make them a useful tool in certain rehab settings. Depending on the person and the goal, technology like this could one day help with things like assisted walking practice, improving movement quality, building confidence with loading, and allowing more controlled, repetitive rehab work.

It is not about replacing hands-on care, exercise, or good clinical reasoning. It is about exploring tools that may help us deliver rehab in another way when appropriate.

Always exciting to see what is coming next in the rehab space.

Great to take some time out of the clinic this week and visit to talk injury prevention and pre-screening protocols.

As clinicians, we aim to work closely with coaches to gain a deeper understanding of the specific demands the various apparatus’s places on athletes.

In turn, our role is to help provide education and strategies to better meet those demands, support long-term development, and enhance athlete performance.

Huge thank you to Dr. Jean‑Louis Papineau and for the opportunity to be involved in theatre.

As physios, we genuinely value being able to step into the operating room with our patients. It gives us a deeper understanding of the injury, the surgical findings, and the decisions made on the day.

Seeing the pathology first hand helps bridge the gap between diagnosis, surgery, and rehabilitation, allowing us to tailor rehab more precisely and guide patients with greater confidence throughout their recovery.

Grateful for the collaboration we have with Coastal Orthopaedics to continue our shared focus on patient outcomes.
