Celebrating our seniors in their golden years 💛

To round out a wonderful month celebrating older Australians, Surgical House teamed up with the Brotherhood of St. Laurence again, this time at their Frankston hub!

Participants on Support at Home packages joined us for lunch, a chat, games and plenty of prizes. One lucky winner went home with the Uc***lo Safe Pour kettle, donated by Surgical House. Its tipping design makes making a cuppa safer and easier for people with reduced strength or mobility. ☕

We were joined by three amazing nurses who shared education and practical tips for making the most of our golden years:

🧴 *Sharni from Hartmann Molicare* shared helpful advice on caring for our skin as we age, including how to prevent skin tears and incontinence-associated dermatitis.

🥤 *Nurse Grace from Abbott* explained why hydration and good nutrition matter as we age, for vitality, falls prevention and overall wellbeing.

🍽️ *Lisa from Nestlé* talked about products that support people with swallowing difficulties and help with wound healing.

🎁 Everyone went home with samples from our generous suppliers Abbott, Hartmann Molicare, Nutricia, Nestlé Health Science and Ego Pharmaceuticals, so they could try some of the products they learnt about.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a great day, with lots of fun, learning and conversation. We're here to help make ageing at home easier. 💙

Yesterday, Surgical House Events Lead Lara was out at the Healthcare Industry Expo at South Metropolitan TAFE, Murdoch campus (WA)! 🎉

It was a wonderful chance to connect with the next generation of nursing and allied health students, chat about the healthcare consumables we supply, and share how we support people across WA living with complex and chronic health conditions. 💙

Congratulations to the two lucky nursing students who each won a sphygmomanometer from Surgical House! We hope it comes in handy throughout your studies and beyond. 🩺

Building strong foundations in wound care 🩹

Yesterday, our Perth team was pleased to support the first workshop in a two-part series, presented by , led by Hayley Ryan RN, a leading expert in wound management, skin integrity and clinical governance.

Nurses and healthcare professionals from across disability and aged care joined us to explore:

✅ Wound healing and assessment
✅ Skin integrity
✅ Preventing and managing IAD and MASD
✅ Evidence-based strategies to protect skin and prevent infection
✅ Accurately identifying and documenting skin damage

Celebrating older Australians with the Brotherhood of St. Laurence 💙

Last week our VIC & TAS Business Development Manager Jade spent the day with the Brotherhood of St. Laurence Support at Home Chinese community, as part of celebrating older Australians awareness month.

It was a day full of learning, laughter and connection, with education from our wonderful supplier partners:

🥤 Lisa from Nestlé Health Science shared how to support skin health and healing
🍎 Kate from Abbott covered nutrition as we age, and how to stay strong and well
🩹 Shani from Hartmann Group (Molicare) presented on skin care, continence and wound care

A big thank you to the interpreter who helped make sure everyone could take part and get the most out of the day.

Of course it wasn’t all learning! There was karaoke 🎤, mahjong 🀄, ping pong 🏓 and plenty of chatting over morning tea and lunch. We also played a few games, and one lucky winner took home a Surgical House cooler bag full of nutrition products from Abbott and Nutricia 🎉

Thank you to the Brotherhood of St. Laurence for having us, and to everyone who joined in. Days like this are what being part of the community is all about.

That’s a wrap on an unforgettable week of competition! 🏅💙

On the last day of the Special Olympics Australia National Games 2026, Surgical House's very own BDM, Jade joined athletes back stage as they refuelled and got ready for today’s closing ceremony. We love the energy in the room!
