Why Winter Is Harder on Arthritic Dogs 🐾❄️
Ever notice your dog seems a little stiffer, slower to get up, or less keen on their walk once the cooler months roll in? You’re not imagining it.
Cold weather doesn’t cause arthritis, but it does make it worse. Lower temperatures and damp conditions can cause joints and muscles to stiffen, and shorter days often mean less movement, which only adds to the discomfort.
Here’s what to watch for as the weather cools down:

🐾 Hesitating to jump on the couch or into the car
🐾 Stiffness after naps or first thing in the morning
🐾 Reluctance to go outside
A few small changes can make a big difference, think warm, draft-free bedding, shorter and more frequent walks instead of one long one, and non-slip mats on slippery floors at home. 🏡
