🌿 People pleasing often develops as a way of staying connected, avoiding conflict, or feeling accepted by others. While it can come from a caring and thoughtful place, constantly putting yourself last can become emotionally exhausting over time. Learning to notice your own needs, set gentle boundaries, and give yourself the same compassion you offer others can support healthier and more balanced relationships. 🌱

Immersive supports Recharge4Recovery

Behind every diagnosis is a family doing their absolute best to hold things together.

Right now in Australia:
β€’ 1.1 million people are experiencing an eating disorder
β€’ 4.4 million people are impacted when families are included
β€’ The economic and social cost reached $67 billion in 2023

As eating disorders continue to rise, families are being asked to carry more than ever before. With health services stretched, carers are often left navigating incredibly complex, exhausting situations with limited structured support. I think we were all holding our breath with the new budget for NDIS support for EDs.

We see this impact everyday, and the distress and impact on families are enormous - emotional, financial, careers. The impact only makes the ED worse, the suffer more isolated, and the heaviness of guilt grow. The impact is real, and often not recognised at a social level. I’m fundraising for Eating

Disorders Families Australia (EDFA) through Recharge 4 Recovery.
EDFA exists to fill that gap - providing support, guidance, and resources to the people standing alongside someone they love through recovery, and is the only organisation in Australia that is carer centred in this way. As the vital role of carers becomes more widely recognised, this work has never been more essential.

If you’re in a position to contribute, every donation genuinely makes a difference - plus maybe get in before EoFY (bonus). Otherwise, we invite you to share this great cause, recharge 4 recovery - what ever that means to you.

🌿✨ A growth mindset is the belief that abilities, intelligence, and skills can be developed through effort, learning, and persistence. People with a growth mindset tend to view challenges and mistakes as opportunities for improvement rather than signs of failure. This perspective can support resilience, motivation, and willingness to engage in new or difficult tasks. 🌿✨

🌿 We often think of trauma as what happened, but what was missing can matter just as much. Emotional neglect can be hard to see and hard to name, especially when you never received what you needed. It shows up in moments when care, warmth, or understanding were not there, and over time, that absence can become the wound. Because of this, emotional neglect is often overlooked. It is not less significant, just less visible.
🌿 These experiences are complex. When the wounds are relational, healing often happens in safe, supportive relationships, and they deserve the same attention as any other trauma. Unprocessed pain can shape how we relate to ourselves and others, influencing our relationships, our reactions, and whether we feel overwhelmed, irritable, or shut down.
🌿 The beautiful part is that you don’t have to keep feeling like this. Therapy can help shift beliefs like β€œI am not good enough,” β€œI am unlovable,” or β€œPeople will leave me.” Healing is possible.

🌿 Trauma can alter time perception, with experiences feeling slowed, accelerated, or fragmented.
🌿 Individuals may respond as though past events are occurring in the present, reflecting ongoing physiological and emotional activation.
🌿 Recovery often involves supporting a gradual reconnection with present-moment awareness and a sense of safety.
