Flexible seating can support regulation, attention and participation by providing appropriate sensory input and opportunities for movement and position changes during seating activities. For some children, having access to different seating options and movement can help maintain alertness, attention, comfort and engagement.
Flexible seating also recognises that effective learning does not require a child to remain completely still, allowing them to use movement in a purposelful way while maintain participation in classroom tasks.
