“Stress is caused by being ‘here’ but wanting to be ‘there’.”— Eckhart Tolle

One of the most beautiful lessons I learned from spending time with Sri Swami Nardanand Ji Maharaj was the practice of going inward — finding peace within myself and learning to be fully present with what is.
I remember once, almost unconsciously, asking him:
“You travel around the world. Where is your favourite place?”
His answer was simple, but it stayed with me.
He looked at me and essentially said:
“This place. Right here. Right now.”
There was no hesitation.
He explained that if he were sitting here with me, telling me that somewhere else was his favourite place, then he wouldn't truly be living in the here and now.

That moment taught me something profound.
His favourite place wasn't a particular country, city, temple or destination.
His favourite place was wherever he was.
And perhaps that is one of the greatest forms of freedom.

We spend so much of our lives saying:
“I'll be happy when…” “I'll relax when…”
“Things will be better when I get there…”
“I wish I was somewhere else…”
And without realising it, we leave the only moment we actually have.
This one.

This is why Tolle's words resonate so deeply with me:
“Stress is caused by being ‘here’ but wanting to be ‘there’.”
Maybe peace isn't always about changing where we are.
Maybe sometimes it's about changing our relationship with where we are.
Be here.
Be present.
Be grateful.
And if you're sitting with someone you love, travelling somewhere you've dreamed of, building something meaningful, or simply sitting quietly with yourself—
let this place be your favourite place.
Because this moment will never come back exactly as it is.
This is it. Here. Now.

Awesome 👏 even Grylls inspires forgiveness after feeling the poison of holding onto grudges and hurt.

Whatever we do in life, someone will have a negative opinion about it.
It’s been such a key lesson to realise we can’t please everyone.
Unless we choose to do literally nothing, we will have to learn to shoulder some criticism.

Sometimes people will do wrong by you.

For a long time I let those experiences harden me. I held onto the hurt like a trophy, quietly nursing every grudge, certain I was somehow punishing the people who had wronged me. Because I didn't let it go.

The truth was, I was only ever punishing myself.

That is the brutal thing about resentment. The person who wronged you has long moved on. You are the one still carrying it, still letting it burn away at your insides, years after they have forgotten your name.

I have found only one way out of that trap. Forgiveness. Not because those people deserved it, but because I could not carry the poison a single day longer. And it is far easier to let go of someone else's failings when you remember how much you have needed forgiving yourself.

There is nothing weak about forgiveness. It is the strongest, most freeing thing a person can do, and it releases you far more than it ever releases them.

Who are you really punishing by refusing to forgive?

For most of my life, I thought fasting was simply about resisting food.

This time, I discovered it was about listening.

As the days passed, something unexpected happened. The constant mental chatter began to quiet. Hunger came and went like waves, but I realised that not every urge deserves to be obeyed. In the silence, I found clarity, discipline, and a deeper understanding of the voice that shapes so many of our choices.

Science calls it autophagy. Spiritual traditions call it purification. I experienced it as an opportunity to reset—not just my body, but my relationship with my own mind.

This article isn't about telling anyone they should fast. It's about sharing what fasting revealed to me: how often we live on autopilot, how powerful self-awareness can be, and what becomes possible when we stop reacting to every impulse.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences after you've had a read.

There is a voice inside each of us.

Sometimes it tells us we're not ready.
Sometimes it convinces us we'll fail.
Sometimes it talks us out of pursuing the very things our hearts are calling us towards.

For years, I believed this voice was my enemy.

Today, I see it differently.

What if this voice isn't trying to sabotage us? What if it's actually trying to protect us? And what if the real challenge isn't silencing it—but learning to understand it?

Inspired by conversations with two good friends, Don and Michael Daisley, I've written one of my most personal and philosophical pieces yet. It explores where this inner voice comes from through the lens of neuroscience, philosophy, spirituality and self-awareness, and asks a simple but powerful question:

Is this fact... or is it opinion?

Perhaps the greatest freedom isn't found in changing our thoughts, but in changing our relationship with them.

I'd love to hear your reflections after reading it.
