A Thought About Tapas and our Brumbies🐴
So as I was planning tomorrow night’s Yoga class, I found myself reflecting on the yogic concept of tapas.
In yoga philosophy, tapas is often translated as discipline, dedication, inner fire, or the willingness to take purposeful action. It’s the spark that gets us up in the morning, the reason we keep showing up, even when we don’t know if our efforts will make a difference.
And it got me thinking about our Brumbies.
I’ve seen so many people saying, What’s the point of signing a petition?or What difference will one email make? or I’m only one person.
But if every one of us believed that our voice didn’t matter, nothing in this world would ever change…
History has never been changed by people who sat quietly believing they were powerless. It has always been changed by ordinary men and women who decided to show up, speak up, and take action, even when they weren’t sure of the outcome.
That’s tapas.
Not knowing whether you’ll succeed, but choosing to act anyway.
Not because you’re guaranteed a result, but because your values ask something of you.
Whether it’s improving your health, standing up for something you believe in, helping a neighbour, writing an email, signing a petition, or raising awareness, every meaningful change begins with someone deciding to take the first step.
The future isn’t shaped by the people who think they can’t make a difference.
It’s shaped by the people who decide to try.
Whatever your views, whatever cause speaks to your heart, don’t underestimate the power of your voice.
Tapas reminds us that we may not control the outcome, but we can always choose our action.
And sometimes that’s where change begins. ❤️🐴🐎
