In our OT Play Series, we’re breaking down some of our favourite paeds resources (featuring our OT Tess) to show what we’re really working on through play.

This week is ... 🎣 Fishing Game

This one often looks a bit chaotic (and loud 😅), but it’s packed with opportunities for skill development.

The moving fish require children to time their movements carefully, supporting hand-eye coordination, motor planning, and reaction speed.

It also challenges sustained attention, as children need to stay focused despite the movement and distractions.

There’s a great social component too, with turn taking, waiting, and managing excitement.

You can adapt the game by adding rules like only catching certain colours, slowing the pace, or turning it into a cooperative game rather than competitive.

✨ And that brings us to the end of our 7 week play series.
