Sleepless nights worrying about making paydays are a reality in seasonal businesses. One moment you feel rich, the next you're running on fumes, praying for snow. Unlike those with upfront deposits, food and service businesses often don't see cash until the season truly begins, making cashflow king and survival a constant challenge.

Excited to share that Barry Nguyen, Founder of CliniScribe will be running the Building with AI stream at the APA FOCUS26 Pre-conference AI Workshop in Cairns, and exhibiting CliniScribe during the conference.

The session is for physiotherapists and clinic leaders who want to move beyond AI hype and into practical implementation, including how to prototype and build simple AI-enabled apps without needing to know how to code.

Barry will also share lessons from building CliniScribe in the real world of allied health practice, especially around solving real problems and designing tools that actually fit clinical workflows.

It will be a great opportunity to meet many CliniScribe users, prospective customers, and the broader physiotherapy network face to face.

AI in physiotherapy should not just be something done to the profession.

It should be something clinicians help lead, shape, build, and govern.

For more than a decade, the APA’s FOCUS conference has brought together people shaping the future of physiotherapy. FOCUS26 runs from 15–17 October 2026 in Cairns, offering three days of evidence-based practice, leadership and connection for the profession.

Shipping treatment tables to Yokohama and arriving in April 2002, we scrambled to find a place to open our clinic. After searching for real estate agents willing to lease to foreigners, we found a compact 23-square-meter Tokyo apartment. The landlord agreed to our business use, and we took over the previous physio's practice, continuing our journey.

A chance idea in 2005 sparked a physiotherapy clinic in Niseko. Imagine climbing rickety stairs for treatment! Yet, the demand for ski physio in Japan grew exponentially. Now, 20 years later, that single clinic has expanded to seven, riding the wave of 'skiing Japan' success. Conveniently, registration wasn't needed in Japan for cash-paying patients, making recruitment easier for international physios.

Many healthcare professionals, like physios and dentists, fail to communicate treatment plans effectively to their patients. We have the plan in our notes but forget to share it. This leads patients to seek answers elsewhere. Whether through emails, printouts, or research, clear communication and patient buy-in are crucial for their goals and your clinic's unique brand.
