πŸ”†I wish more people understood that the reason people finally walk away

is rarely due to one thing
it's the drip, drip, drip
of not being seen,
of not being heard,
of not feeling cared for,
of not feeling they belong,
of not feeling wanted,
of efforts not being returned
- of not feeling loved
enough to stay.

πŸ”† Over the past few years, I've been a lot more intentional about my connections and the people I choose to surround myself with.

People who uplift.
People who can hold space.
People who can offer perspective.
People who are also choosing intentionality.

πŸ”†i listen for a living and these are some parts I heard and held this week...

πŸ”Ήa part working so hard to leave, before being left behind
πŸ”Ήa part so used to being told which way to grow, they've forgotten they can choose
πŸ”Ήa part worries that the work that drives their passion, is the same work that triggers
πŸ”Ήa part so familiar with chaos and struggle, learning to sit with joy, ease and peace

Each part with a story.
Each part with a purpose.

The truth is - these parts belong to all of us. We hold them as a collective. Witnessing, honouring, embracing πŸ’›

-----------------------------------

These parts are a composite of many conversations. Details have been changed to protect the privacy of those I walk alongside.

When speaking of parts - this perspective is framed through the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, where we are made up of many parts, in an interconnected web, each with their own unique role and experience.

Good hearts need boundaries...

πŸ”†I would rather...

I would rather people
speak up imperfectly
than not speak up at all.

I would rather have people
join movements for liberation late
than not have them join at all.

I would rather hear your voice
than not hear it at all.

It is not too late to save this world.
And I would rather people believe that
than not believe it at all.

In a time of hate, division, of war, heartbreak and devastation, I find my soul yearning for avenues of light and hope. Spaces and places of light, openness and collective strength.

πŸ”†what a privilege...

This work is hard. Leaning in. Showing up. And yet you keep going, even when you're feeling tired, burnt out, overwhelmed and vulnerable.

A reminder to pause and acknowledge how far you've come β€” with awe and compassion β€” whilst also owning the choices you GOT TO make to get here.

You may not be where you want to be. But isn't it a privilege to have the chance to keep going? To keep writing and rewriting your story?

Let's stay here for a moment together, finish this sentence for me in the comments πŸ’ - "what a privilege to...."
