One of the biggest misconceptions about combo surgery is that doing multiple procedures at once automatically saves money.

Undergoing two procedures at once, as opposed to staggered, reduces your recovery periods and time away from work, but it doesn't impact the overall cost.

And in some situations, separating procedures may actually be the safer or more appropriate option.

We break down the realities of combo surgery in our latest podcast episode: “Combo Surgery: Safer, Cheaper, or Riskier?”

This changed recently and a lot of people still don’t know.

The updated approach:
✔️ You can stay on your GLP-1
✔️ Switch to clear fluids 24 hours before surgery
✔️ Standard fasting still applies (no food 6 hours prior)

Always follow your own surgeon + anaesthetist’s specific instructions, but this is the current general guidance we’re seeing.

Send this to someone on weight loss meds who’s considering surgery, it could save them confusion later.

This is one of the most expensive mistakes we see and it’s avoidable.

Send this to someone who thinks it'd be easier to start with surgery then lose the rest of the weight later.

Would you risk temporary facial paralysis if the end result was good?

Some surgeons are comfortable with that risk. Richard? Not so much...

This is one of the most frustrating parts of planning surgery — and we get it.

“Why can’t you just give me a quote?”

Until we assess you properly, any number would be a guess, and we don’t think that’s fair to you.

What we can promise: after your consult, you’ll get a clear, accurate breakdown.

If you want a ballpark figure, DM us the procedure and we’ll point you in the right direction.
