It's called a Tono-Vera and uses gentle rebound technology which eliminates the need for the numbing eye drops. No more yellow eyes when you leave the shop!

Transitions have brought out a fancy new product which is not only incredibly stylish but also great for those who suffer with light sensitivity.
Colour Touch comes in two variations, Colour Touch Gradient and Colour Touch Washed.
Inside, they have a light 18% tint, just enough to take the edge off harsh lighting, and darken outside to a solid tint of up to 93% - the same as your average pair of sunnies.

Scratched lenses are a pain in the...neck!
The scratches always seem to be right in front of your eye - usually because this is the highest point of the lens and is more likely to rub against abrasive surfaces when not in their case.
Unfortunately, they can't be buffed out and the only fix is new lenses which can be pricey. We've seen lenses less than 6 months old which look as if they've been sanded (maybe they have, we're next to the beach!), and we've seen lenses which are 8 years old which look brand new.
Afraid to say it...in 99% of cases, it's all about keeping them in their case, using the correct cleaning cloth - not clothes, and giving them a quick rinse if they get dirty or sandy before wiping them - with a clean lens cloth! 😎

Nike is an excellent frame choice for kids.
Aside from looking stylish, Nike offers a two year unconditional warranty on the frames meaning that any breakage is covered regardless of how it happened! We definitely think it's a good idea to have a back-up pair of glasses just in case of breakages though.

Foreign bodies in the eyes are something we see fairly regularly and mostly, once they've been removed everything heals up nicely.
If a bit of metal gets lodged in the eye, the saltiness of the tears rapidly starts to rust the metal and can create a rust ring which requires a bit more attention.
The sooner an optometrist can get the offending metal out of the eye, the better the chance of avoiding rust rings.

Sunglasses in winter...yay or nay?
Categorically, absolutely, 100% yes! The sun is lower in the sky often bypassing hat brims and eyebrows (no matter how bushy!), UV rays easily pass through cloud cover and wetter conditions create more reflections and glare. On top of this, shielding your eyes from UV exposure can help protect against many eye and skin disorders.

Keeping your glasses spotless can sometimes feel like a real chore!
A yummy combination of dead skin cells, oils, make up, moisturiser, grease and dust can get stuck around the lenses, nosepads and in the hinges and is difficult to remove.
We can pop them in our ultrasonic cleaner which will literally buzz that dirt and grime out of all the nooks and crannies, leaving them fresh and deep cleaned.
While we're at it, we'll tighten up the screws and re-align your frame for you... and while you're waiting, you can peruse for your next pair of glasses! 😉
