DID YOU KNOW?

Language difficulties can be hidden, misunderstood and have lifelong consequences.

Research involving young people in the youth justice system found that 3 in 5 had Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) — and none had previously been diagnosed. Young people with DLD were also 2.6 times more likely to reoffend within 12 months (62% compared with 25% of those without DLD).

These findings highlight why early identification and access to speech pathology matter. When a young person has difficulty understanding language, expressing themselves or processing complex verbal information, it can affect their ability to engage meaningfully with education, rehabilitation programs and the justice system.

Tonight we hosted session 1 of our On Trac program for tweens with ADHD.

The topics covered tonight included:

⭐️What is ADHD? What does it look like for you?

⭐️Understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

⭐️Time management strategies.

We also had UNO and Snacks! 🍬 🍩

2027 - Now is the time to reach out to secure a spot in The Dazzle for Term 1 2027.

We are encouraging families with early intervention aged children to access what they can before NDIS changes come into effect in January 2028.

The Dazzle includes:
• Speech Pathology
• Occupational Therapy
• Early Childhood Teacher
• Allied Health Assistants

• Natural play based setting
• Child centred
• Neuroaffirming
• Strengths based
• Multidisciplinary

• Small group (6-8 children)
• Weekly
• 2 hours
• Fridays
• Traralgon

What are the NDIS changes??

Starting January 1, 2028, NDIS eligibility will shift from diagnosis-based access lists to objective, standardized functional capacity assessments.

New applicants and existing participants (upon plan renewal) will be evaluated on how their disability impacts daily life, while children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or autism with low to moderate support needs will start to access support through Thriving Kids.

Thriving Kids roll out will commence in October 2026 and will be fully rolled out by 1 January 2028.
