Today we wore our Big Freeze beanies in support of the fight against Motor Neurone Disease. ❄️💙

Like many Australians, we know that MND has touched the lives of families, friends and communities across the country. The Big Freeze is a powerful reminder of the impact this disease has and the importance of continuing to fund research in the hope of finding a cure.

We're proud to show our support and join thousands of others helping to make a difference.

Karen picked up her new Etnia sunglasses and they look fantastic. 😎✨

Sunglasses aren’t just for summer. As we head into the cooler months, winter glare and the lower sun can be just as tough on the eyes, especially on the road.

A great pair of sunnies is a year-round essential, and Karen’s chosen well. ☀️

Helping little eyes get ready for big school adventures 👀✨

Martin recently visited Goolwa Primary School and the Goolwa Children’s Centre, working alongside CaFHS nurses to help identify vision problems in children before they start school.

So much of early learning relies on vision, from recognising letters and numbers to building confidence in the classroom. Picking up potential concerns early can make a huge difference to how children learn, play and settle into school life.

A big thank you to the CaFHS team for the important work they do supporting local families!

We’ve added some new sensory and fidget toys to the practice to help make visits a little easier and more comfortable for our neurodiverse patients, or anyone who might benefit from them. Of course, Martin and Nicolle had to thoroughly test them first 😆

Our latest blog explores how vision and sensory processing can be closely connected for neurodiverse individuals, and why a calm, flexible and sensory-friendly approach to eye care can make such a difference.

From light sensitivity and eye teaming difficulties, to creating appointments that feel safe and supportive, we’re proud to provide care that looks beyond just reading the chart.

Children do best when their care team works together!

Martin caught up with Dr Mike from Coast Family Chiropractic in Noarlunga to chat about multidisciplinary care for neurodivergent children.

When children are supported by a team of paediatric-trained professionals, each person brings a different piece of the puzzle, from specific testing to tailored management strategies.

The goal? More connected care, clearer communication, and better outcomes for the child and their family.

Leela and the Flinders optometry students had a great day at Victor Harbor High School last week providing free vision screenings for students 👓✨

These screenings are such a great way to pick up potential vision issues and help support students with their learning and classroom confidence. Always a pleasure getting out into our local schools!
