🌟 EXCITING NEWS – OCSS HAS CAPACITY FOR NEW PARTICIPANTS! 🌟
Group supports
💙 Optimal Community Support Services (OCSS) is currently training new staff, which means we have capacity to welcome more participants into our day programs, community access activities and social groups!

At OCSS, we are passionate about creating meaningful experiences, building independence, developing everyday life skills and, most importantly, making sure our participants feel included, supported and have fun!

🌿 HERE'S A LOOK AT WHAT WE GET UP TO EACH WEEK!
🌻 MONDAY – Community Access & Gardening
Participants head out in smaller groups to enjoy a range of community activities before spending the afternoon at our community garden.

🏊 TUESDAY – Swimming & Public Transport Skills
Our participants catch the bus into town for a swim with their friends and support workers. It's a great opportunity to build confidence, independence and public transport skills while staying active!

🎳 WEDNESDAY – Bowling & Centre Activities
Participants enjoy two rounds of bowling, with walking encouraged where suitable to promote health and wellbeing.
In the afternoon, everyone returns to the centre for a variety of activities, including games, puzzles, arts and crafts, life skills and social activities.

🥗 THURSDAY – Gardening, Shopping & Cooking
Participants spend time at our community garden before heading to the supermarket with a set budget.
Together, they decide what to cook for lunch, purchase their ingredients and return to the centre to prepare and enjoy their meal.
It's a fantastic way to develop budgeting, shopping, cooking, decision-making and teamwork skills!

🍽️ THURSDAY NIGHT – Dinner with Mates
Our Thursday evening social group enjoys cooking and sharing dinner together at the centre.
Once a month, the group heads out into the community for dinner, providing another opportunity to build friendships and enjoy new experiences.

🚐 FRIDAY – Community Access Adventures
Our Fridays are all about getting out and exploring!
We create a new monthly program filled with different activities, destinations and experiences, giving participants opportunities to try new things, build friendships and enjoy their community.

🚌 FORTNIGHTLY SATURDAY TOUR GROUP
Every second Saturday, our Tour Group heads out for an adventure!
From shows and community events to beach trips, coastal visits and exploring new destinations, there's always something different to experience.

🏕️ COMING UP IN NOVEMBER – CAMP CLAYTON!
We are also looking forward to our upcoming camp at Camp Clayton, where participants will have the opportunity to enjoy new experiences, build independence and make wonderful memories with their peers!

🏡 A LITTLE ABOUT OUR OCSS CENTRE
We are fortunate to have a large centre with plenty of different spaces to suit individual interests and needs.
Our centre includes:
✨ A large main activity area for group activities and socialising
🧩 A smaller, quieter activity room for games, puzzles and life skills
💙 Two dedicated sensory rooms with soundproofed walls, comfortable couches and TVs, providing spaces to relax, unwind and re-regulate
🎨 A dedicated arts and crafts room
🎮 A NEW GAMING FLOOR COMING SOON! A space for gaming, playing the Wii and connecting with others who enjoy similar interests
👩‍🍳 Kitchen and cooking facilities for developing everyday living skills

💙 WHY SMALLER GROUPS MATTER TO US
At OCSS, we understand that everyone is different.
Some participants love being part of a busy social group, while others prefer smaller groups or quieter environments.
As our programs have grown, rather than simply making our existing groups bigger, we have created additional groups.
This means some participants can be out enjoying community access while others participate in activities at the centre.
Our aim is to provide a more relaxed, individualised and enjoyable experience, where participants have choices and feel comfortable and supported.

🌟 WE ARE NOW WELCOMING NEW PARTICIPANTS! 🌟
With new staff being trained, we are excited to have capacity to support more participants across our programs.
Whether someone enjoys swimming, bowling, gardening, cooking, gaming, exploring the community, making friends or simply having a place where they feel they belong, we would love to have a chat!

📩 Are you a Support Coordinator, family member or participant looking for engaging day programs and community access supports?

Please reach out to Optimal Community Support Services for more information or to arrange a visit to our centre.
We would love to show you what we have to offer!

🏡 POTENTIAL SIL HOUSEMATE WANTED 🏡

💜 OCSS is seeking a compatible housemate for a 56-year-old male NDIS participant who is looking to transition into a shared Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangement.

We are looking for someone with SIL or Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Living funding who would benefit from a shared support arrangement.

🤝 Proposed Support Arrangements:

* 1:2 support ratio (one support worker to two participants)
* Shared supports tailored to participants’ individual needs
* Additional individualised supports can be arranged if required
* A focus on compatibility, independence and creating a positive home environment

🏠 Accommodation:

Once a suitable housemate match has been identified, OCSS will work to secure appropriate accommodation that meets the individual needs, preferences and financial circumstances of both participants.

Our priority is to ensure both participants feel comfortable, supported and happy in their shared home.

✨ We believe finding the right housemate is just as important as finding the right home!

📩 Expressions of Interest Welcome!

We encourage NDIS participants, families, guardians and support coordinators to reach out to discuss potential compatibility, funding and support requirements.

💜 OCSS – Supporting independence, choice and meaningful connections.
