A major milestone for the MRHA and this community!

A major milestone for healthcare in our community: Epic is now live at Almonte General Hospital and Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital. 💙

By joining the Atlas Alliance, AGH and CPDMH are now using the same digital health record system as healthcare organizations across Eastern Ontario. This will support more connected care by giving participating care teams more timely access to patient information when patients receive care across Atlas Alliance organizations.

Patients also now have access to MyChart, Epic’s secure online patient portal, providing greater access to eligible health information.

Moving to a new system is a significant change. In the first days and weeks, some appointments, tests and visits may take a little longer than usual as our teams adjust to new workflows. Our commitment to safe, high-quality patient care remains unchanged.

A tremendous thank you to our staff, physicians, midwives and project teams for more than a year of planning, training, testing and preparation — and to our patients and community for your patience during this transition.

October is Occupational Therapy (OT) Month!

There is a new pilot program at the Almonte General Hospital led by Occupational Therapists, Patricia Tischart and Karen Gibson. Patricia and Karen are excited to host “The Troublemakers” on Friday mornings as part of a Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) program.

CST is an evidence based, OT led, group program that involves structured activities, games and guided conversations. CST has been shown to help individuals maintain or improve memory, language skills and ability to perform daily activities. Each session revolves around a theme such as childhood memories, food and current affairs. One of the participants commented about her participation in the group saying, “I enjoy the group so much! Chatting about the topic of the day is great!”.

After four sessions it is clear that CST not only provides mental stimulation and learning but it is also filled with fun, laughter and making connections.

Thanks to donations from you, the Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor Foundation can support programs that are so important to our patients, residents, and their families.

Last week the staff on the Rosamond Unit celebrated their friend and colleague Wendy Powell as she clocked out of her shift and clocked into retirement. With a sash and a crown adorned, Wendy was presented with a Guardian Angel pin highlighting her many years of service as a nurse at the AGH.

"This pin represents the many years of devotion you have put toward caring, supporting, and listening to Pts with many different medical issues. You were the nurse/ and person that stood for, cried with, and always entered their room with a bright positive attitude and the best smile ever.

Your professionalism and your heart on your sleeve personality have not gone unnoticed and will be missed. We are lucky to at least hear that you will be here occasionally to help out.

Happy retirement from all of us to you my coworker and dear friend!"

"Ashton United Church held a yard sale supported and run by Members of Ashton United Church and Friends of Ashton United Church.

Held on the grounds of the church in the Village of Ashton, the yard sale has proven popular over the years and continues to be a success

We were delighted to support the Almonte General Hospital Obstetrics Ward and presented the proceeds totaling $2,285.75 to Ms. Vaia Dimas , Executive Director of the Foundation at our Tuesday Drop In held at the Church every second Tuesday of the month".
