✨Meet Kas!✨

Kas is our lead vision therapist and brings so much to our team with her knowledge and passion! We are lucky to have her. Here’s some words from Kas:

I have a background and education in Early Childhood Education from Georgian College, and previously worked in that field in various positions for 4 years. I have been a vision therapist for over 7 years and have training from organizations such as; the Optometric Extension Program Foundation, Vision Therapy Canada, and have attended the International Congress of Behavioural Optometry (ICBO) conference. My passion involves combining early childhood development with the visual system, as both are intrinsically linked.
I made the transition from Early Childhood Education to Vision Therapy because I knew that I still wanted to make a positive impact on young lives, but wanted a different setting than a classroom. I stumbled onto the Vision Therapy world back in 2019 and have since developed a deep love for expanding my patients world, and lives. I am forever fascinated with how our body, emotions, and external sources influence our visual system, and love guiding my patient’s through their journey at the office.
Outside of the office, I am a professional contemporary dancer and member of Simcoe Contemporary Dancers. I am able to continue my love for performing, teaching, and creating movement. I also enjoy cooking many dishes, and experimenting with new flavours and dishes!
A fun fact about myself – I lived in Australia for a short time working as an Au Pair, and have backpacked solo in Ireland!

Reach out to our office today if you have questions about Vision Therapy! We look forward to meeting you!

✨Let’s Meet the Team!✨

Meet Dr. Kim Lalonde, our Neuro Behavioural Optometrist here at Cardinal Vision Development. Dr. Lalonde is brilliant and inspiring at what she does. Here’s a little introduction from Dr. Lalonde herself:

I have a biochemistry degree and optometry degree, and add on over 500 hours of continuing eduation in vision therapy, concussion rehab, neurolinguistic programming and out of the box stuff.

I got into VT after a patient who had an eye turn asked what we could do for her based on a newspaper article on dichoptic training. The research I did on this sent me down a rabbit hole that I am still navigating.

I love to read, go camping, walk my dog and hang out with friends and family.

Fun fact I was part of an adult hip hop group and taught myself how to do the worm at age 38. Which is funny because I am “29 forever”…lol

Keep your eye out for more introductions coming in the next few weeks!! We look forward to meeting you!

✨What is the Visual System?✨

Oftentimes, when we think of vision, we think of eye sight and 20/20. However, these things are very different! Vision is mental. It’s how our brain processes the world and allows us to flow through it.

Read this post and let us know your thoughts!

✨What is Vision Therapy?✨

Vision therapy is about so much more than just correcting eye sight! It involves so many different activities within a program designed for your goals and needs. It also involves a lot of gross motor activities because believe it or not, our ability to be aware of our bodies in space affects the visual system as well. Vision therapy is all about re-wiring the brain and making new connections to make life easier!

Vision therapy also involves regular in-person sessions and at home activities which are super important in keeping up with progress!

Reach out to our office today if you have any questions or think vision therapy might be needed for you or your child!
