Campbell Monument provides cemetery lettering services throughout much of South Eastern Ontario, and Lochlan is one of our skilled cemetery lettering technicians covering the Peterborough, Lindsay, and greater Kawartha Lakes area.

Since joining our team in 2019, Lochlan has helped families preserve and update memorials with great care and precision.

Today it was my honour to recognize and thank Steve Candler for 20 years of continuous service to Campbell Monument. 👏

In his role as Back Shop & Field Service Manager, Steve has the unenviable position of overseeing the start of the process, receiving granite from our various suppliers, handling and maintaining granite stock inventory, as well as all the other various items required for production and installation (pads, concrete, sockets, etc.).

Steve oversees the final production steps of the back shop for what can often be a long and frustrating process due to the ever-changing, right up to the last-minute nature of the monument business.

In his day-to-day role, Steve is constantly balancing the ongoing push and pull of all of the various pieces, parts, labour, scheduling, and consumables that go into the final finishing, delivery, and installation of our custom products, while also ensuring staff are properly trained and certified to operate specialized equipment such as our saws, heavy-duty trucks, lifting devices, and more.

At any given time, he is coordinating crews working here at the shop, crews working in the field at various locations, preparing loads for wholesale clients, and organizing deliveries to our other branches, all while helping ensure we continue to meet our commitments, deadlines, and promises to families.

Somehow... through it all... Steve manages to maintain a mostly calm demeanour about him. 😄

For all of this, and on behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to sincerely thank Steve for his 20 years of dedication and service to our company.

Congratulations Steve! 🎉👏

Happy Weekend! We came across this “blast from the past” Yellow Pages video featuring our Pembroke location… and we just had to share it. 😊

Hard to believe this video is already 15 years old! Some familiar faces in the video are now retired, and some, like our past President Mike Voisin, are sadly no longer with us. ❤️

What really stood out to us though… is how much has stayed the same.

Campbell Monument | 2026 BCC Visionary Cornerstone Recognition

Trevor Howard, of the Campbell Monument Company Ltd. , accepted the Visionary Cornerstone recognition on behalf of the company during the Belleville Chamber of Commerce's President's Dinner on May 8, 2026. The vision of Founder Bill Campbell dates back almost half a century, but at a time when succession planning is a critical concern of government, he developed an employee ownership model that broke barriers to building a company that is wholly owned by its employees.

The dedication and vision Bill Campbell instilled into Campbell Monument has resulted in raising the profile of Belleville and has contributed to the overall prosperity of the community. He also set up a trust that is used to support the Campbell Craft guarantee, that means they retain responsibility for every memorial they hand craft – right here in Belleville. The benefits of that trust are used to support cemetery vandalism, aging monument restoration and the overall maintenance of cemeteries across the province.

📱🪦 Memorials are evolving in some very meaningful ways.

More families are beginning to add QR codes to monuments, allowing future generations to access photos, videos, stories, obituaries, and treasured memories right from the cemetery.

It’s an interesting blend of tradition and technology ~ preserving memories in a whole new way while still honouring the permanence of a monument.

We are incredibly honoured to have been recognized by the Belleville Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of the 2026 Visionary Cornerstone Award.

This recognition means so much to all of us because it reflects the vision Bill Campbell had decades ago when he transitioned Campbell Monument into employee ownership and created the Campbell-Craft Guarantee, still the only perpetual monument guarantee of its kind in North America.

We would like to sincerely thank the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, CEO Jill Raycroft, and everyone involved in this year’s President’s Awards Dinner for such a thoughtful and moving recognition.

For over a century, Campbell Monument has been built by skilled craftspeople, dedicated employees, and the families who have trusted us to help honour their loved ones.

We are proud to continue that legacy today.
