After birth, your body is doing a lot of healing and that means your nutrient needs matter more than ever ๐Ÿค

Low levels of key nutrients can show up as fatigue, mood changes, brain fog, or slow recovery.

Taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your baby. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿผ

If youโ€™ve been feeling โ€œoff,โ€ it might be worth checking in with your provider about these common deficiencies.

Reminder, you can ALWAYS ask questions.

Unlike the ridiculous legal fight of a Florida woman, most facilities will accept your autonomy - even if there's some pushback.

Discussion and respect is how we have safe birth without unnecessary trauma. Doctors, midwives, nurses who practice with respect will have these conversations with you to help you make informed decisions and understand if there's a true medical concern.

What questions did you ask in labor?

Her ancestors are here. ๐Ÿค

They pray softly while they await eagerly to witness her sacred journey into motherhood. Theyโ€™re her inner voice telling her โ€œI can do this.โ€ Theyโ€™re Witnessing the little life that chose to be with her - enter and change her entire world. Her sister reminding her of her strength. Doing everything she needs her to do - to be able to guide this life earth side confidently. Birth is raw. Birth is incredible. Birth is not meant for the eyes of the weak. We were made to do this in whatever way possible.

(I found a few commissioned pieces in my camera roll that I completed from 2019-2020 that I havenโ€™t shared yet. This is one of them. Iโ€™m not sure why I didnโ€™t. Lack of words for their captions, probably but Iโ€™m sharing now)
This piece is sold and has found its way home to the NMAI Smithsonian museum collections โค๏ธ
