Learning Corner: Nurse Handwashing
At our latest caregiver training session, our team received hands-on instruction from a Registered Nurse (RN) to refresh and strengthen proper nurse handwashing techniques.
Ongoing education helps ensure our caregivers stay current with best practices and continue providing safe, confident and compassionate care for our clients.
During the training, caregivers reviewed the following steps and procedures:
* Ensure your hands are completely dry before patient contact or donning gloves.
* Remove jewellery and raise sleeves above wrists.
* Wet hands with warm running water.
* Apply soap to all hand surfaces.
* Rub palms, backs of hands and between fingers.
* Clean thumbs, fingertips, nails and wrists.
* Wash for at least 20 seconds.
* Rinse thoroughly with running water.
* Dry hands completely with a clean towel.
* Use the towel to turn off the faucet.
Providing quality education for our caregivers helps strengthen infection prevention practices and supports high-quality care every day.💙🩺
