June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich histories, diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.
It is also an opportunity to reflect on the impacts of colonization, residential schools, and intergenerational trauma that continue to affect Indigenous communities today. Understanding this history is an important part of fostering reconciliation, empathy, and meaningful change.
We encourage everyone to take time to learn, listen, and reflect on Indigenous histories and perspectives, not only in June, but throughout the year.
