Did you know that Ontario offers free RSV immunization to eligible infants, young children and pregnant individuals?

There are two options to help protect babies against serious RSV illness:

Beyfortus: An antibody injection given directly to eligible infants and certain high-risk children.

Abrysvo: A vaccine given during pregnancy to help protect babies through antibodies passed before birth.

Both options help reduce the risk of severe RSV illness and hospitalization.

Speak with your midwife about which option may be right for your family.

Mental health matters at every stage of life, including throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. 🤍

While pregnancy and welcoming a new baby are often portrayed as joyful experiences, they can also bring significant emotional, physical, and psychological challenges.

Perinatal mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders, are more common than many realize. They can affect anyone, regardless of their circumstances, support system, or previous mental health history.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s continue to normalize conversations about perinatal mental health and remind families that mental health is health. 💚

September kept us busy with 35 beautiful new arrivals

⚖️ Average baby: 7 lb 6 oz
🤏 Smallest: 4 lb 0 oz
🥇 Biggest: 9 lb 11 oz
🏆 Busiest midwife: Kirsten with 7 births!

And September babies really are in good company! 🇨🇦 Statistics Canada has historically found September to be the busiest month for births in Canada. Some of the most common September birthdays fall about 38–39 weeks after Christmas… so we’ll let you do the math. 😉🎄➡️👶

Today, we honour Truth and Reconciliation Day.

We recognize the lasting impacts of colonization and the injustices faced by Indigenous Peoples, and we honour the strength and resilience of survivors, their families, and communities. We also remember the children that never came home.

As midwives, we are committed to ongoing learning, reflection and action to support culturally safe and respectful care in an effort to work towards a more equitable future for Indigenous families.

New in Ontario! Fetal Rh genotyping is now available for eligible Rh-negative pregnant clients.

This simple blood test can determine your baby’s Rh status and help guide whether Rh immune globulin (RhIG) is needed during pregnancy.

August was a busy one! ☀️🍼

We welcomed 25 babies into the world this month, 13 girls and 12 boys 💕💙

⚖️ Average weight: 7 lbs 13 oz
🌟 Biggest babe: 9 lbs 5 oz
🐣 Smallest babe: 5 lbs 4 oz
🏡 2 babies made their arrival at home
📅 And we had 7 double-birthday days with two little ones arriving on the same day!

Congratulations to all of our August families! We’re so grateful to have been part of your journey. 💛
