Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈🦄🌈

Pride is a time to celebrate the history, diversity, and resilience of the 2SLGBTQI+ communities, and to recognize the ongoing struggles they may face. Ottawa Valley Midwives is fundraising for the AGH Run for Women’s & Newborn Health!

Provincial funding does not pay for clinical equipment, so AGH relies on community support. All funds raised go straight to the AGH Obstetrics Unit, the place where many of our clients choose to bring their babies into the world!

Help us support our amazing local hospital by contributing what you can at the link below. Every little bit counts!

"If Ottawa is serious about building a more accessible, sustainable, and resilient health-care system, it cannot afford to overlook midwifery any longer."

In an op-ed published in The Hill Times for International Day of the Midwife, CJ Blennerhassett highlights midwifery as a proven, cost-effective model that expands access, supports the health workforce, advances equity, and strengthens Canada’s health-care system for all.

May 5 is International Day of the Midwife! Today we celebrate midwives around the world for the informed, safe, and client-centred care they provide to their communities.

The theme this year is “One Million More Midwives”, highlighting the global need for more midwives to provide essential care to women, newborns, and their families.

Here is (most) of the OVM team hard at work to keep bringing excellent midwifery care to the Ottawa Valley. Thank you to all our clients for your ongoing support!💖
