đź’™ LYMPHEDEMA CAN AFFECT ANYONE! đź’™
When people hear the word lymphedema, they often associate it with breast cancer treatment.
But there's so much more to the story!
Lymphedema can affect men, women, and children. It can develop during infancy, childhood, adolescence, or later in life.
đź’™ THERE ARE TWO MAIN TYPES:
🦋 PRIMARY LYMPHEDEMA
Develops because of abnormalities in the lymphatic system. It may be inherited, but it can also occur without any family history. Symptoms can appear at any age.
🦋 SECONDARY LYMPHEDEMA
Develops when the lymphatic system is damaged or disrupted. Causes can include cancer treatments, surgery, trauma, infections, and other medical conditions.
Lymphedema can affect the legs, arms, feet, hands, trunk, head, neck, and other areas of the body.
While there is currently no cure, appropriate treatment and management can make a significant difference in quality of life.
đź’™ LET'S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER!
If you're living with lymphedema, we'd love to hear from you!
đź’¬ How old were you when you first noticed symptoms?
đź’¬ Do you have primary or secondary lymphedema?
đź’¬ Have you received a formal diagnosis? If so, how long did it take?
Whether you've been living with lymphedema for decades or were recently diagnosed, your experience matters!
Sharing your story might help someone else realize they're not alone. đź’™
