As summer begins, our gardens are starting to come alive again. 🌿

Behind every quiet corner, blooming flower and cared-for pathway are volunteers who give their time and care to help make our hospice grounds feel peaceful and welcoming.

For individuals and families, these outdoor spaces can offer a place to pause, reflect, remember or simply take a breath.

Thank you to our garden volunteers for caring for these spaces, and for helping bring comfort in such a meaningful way. šŸ’›

For Elizabeth, time with her son William is something to be cherished.

After a traumatic birth, William has lived with complex medical needs. Through it all, he has brought joy, strength and laughter to the people around him.

What Elizabeth hopes for is a place where William can simply be a child — a place for rest, care and connection.

Keaton’s House – Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice will offer families, a warm, supportive second home, where children with serious illness and their families can feel cared for, connected and less alone.

A recent Wednesday at our Adult Day Wellness Program was filled with art therapy, seated yoga and a special visit from Buddy, who quickly found a favourite spot at the art therapy table. 🐾

He visits us through the Hamilton/Burlington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HBSPCA) Pet Visiting Program.

Our Adult Day Wellness Program gives individuals living with progressive life limiting illness a welcoming space for conversation, therapeutic activities, a homemade meal and time together in a caring, home-like setting. It’s one of the ways we help people feel supported, connected and less alone, while also giving caregivers time to rest and recharge.

This year, Marie, Ellen and the Attard family are taking part in Hike for Hospice in honour of their mom, Giuseppina.

Their connection to the event is deeply personal. During one of the hardest moments in their lives, Dr. Kemp’s House gave their family time, comfort and support.

From the moment they arrived, Ellen shared that their family was met with kindness, dignity and genuine care.

ā€œWhat stood out most was the warmth and humanity shown to us in every interaction,ā€ the family shared. ā€œNothing ever felt rushed.ā€

Their story is a reminder of why Hike matters. Every step, donation and team helps support compassionate hospice care for individuals and families in our community, always at no cost.

Join us for Hike for Hospice on June 20.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Hike for Hospice so far.

Because of your support, we have officially raised 36% of our $80,000 goal, bringing us to $28,615.

This milestone is more than a number. It shows what’s possible when our community comes together to support hospice care for people and families when they need it most. šŸ’›

We’re getting closer, and there’s still time to help us reach the finish line.

Happy Pride Month. 🌈

At Kemp Care Network, care starts with seeing each person as they are - their values, relationships, identity and lived experience.

We’re continuing to learn and strengthen how we create spaces where people feel respected, supported and welcome.

This year, Christine and her son Hudson are taking part in Hike for Hospice in memory of Christine’s mom, Margaret Styles.

Margaret spent her final days at Dr. Kemp’s House in 2024. For Christine and her family, hospice care meant being able to spend that time together, knowing Margaret was comfortable and well cared for.

Their hope is that more families can have access to that same care and support when they need it most.

Every step, donation and team helps support hospice care for people and families in our community, at no cost to those who need it.

Join us for Hike for Hospice on June 20.

Tonight, we will gather for our memorial service to honour and remember those who spent their final days with us at Dr. Kemp’s House.

Twice a year, families, friends and staff come together in a shared space of remembrance,Ā  to reflect, to hear their loved one’s name and to feel connected with others who understand this kind of loss.

We are grateful to be able to hold this time for the families we have cared for and to continue walking alongside them in grief and remembering.
Ā
Thank you to for providing a welcoming space for this evening’s service and to for their continued kindness and generosity.
