Midlife has reminded me that taking care of myself isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes it’s about slowing down. šŸ¤

For me, today that looked like 15 minutes in the sauna. Quiet. No rushing. Just a little time to reset.

It doesn’t have to be big to matter. Small habits add up. ✨

What’s one thing you do just for YOU?

Mindset doesn’t have to mean a 20-minute meditation, journaling every morning or having the perfect routine.

Sometimes it’s sitting in the car for a few quiet minutes.
Taking a walk.
Putting your phone down.
Taking a few slow breaths before moving on to the next thing.

Those little moments may not feel like much—but practiced consistently, they add up.

Your health isn’t built only in the big things. It’s built in the small things you do regularly.

Today, find 5 minutes that are just for you. šŸ¤

When your daughter sends you a picture of her dinner and says, ā€œLook Mom, I listened to you!ā€ 🄹

This might be one of my favourite kinds of texts. ā¤ļø

Nothing fancy. Nothing complicated. Just a simple meal with protein + carbs + veggies that she made for herself.

As a dietitian—and a mom—this is exactly what I want my girls to learn. Not how to eat ā€œperfectly,ā€ but how to nourish themselves wherever life takes them.

Teach them simple habits now and eventually… they start doing it on their own. ā¤ļø

And yes, I was very proud of this plate. šŸ˜‚

Parents sending kids off to university: this is exactly why I created Fuel Your Mind—to give them simple, practical tools to eat well when Mom isn’t there reminding them. šŸ˜‰

If you struggle to get enough fibre or want to make your meat stretch a little further, here’s one of my favourite answers: add plants! 🌱

Tonight’s dinner was loved by all- a creamy Red Curry Chicken skillet, but instead of relying on chicken alone, I added red lentils + chickpeas.

Such a simple way to:
✨ Boost protein
✨ Add more fibre
✨ Make your chicken stretch further
✨ Create a filling, satisfying meal

Add some spinach, coconut milk and red curry paste, serve with rice—and dinner is done. šŸ›

You don’t have to take meat away to eat more plants. Just add them in. Small changes like this can make a big difference over time. šŸ¤

šŸŽ“ Fuel Your Mind is officially HERE!

Sending your student off to university means giving them a whole lot of independence—including figuring out how to feed themselves. šŸ˜…

After years of getting the ā€œIs this still good?ā€, ā€œIs this cooked?ā€ and ā€œWhat can I make that’s quick?ā€ texts, I knew I wanted to create something practical that students could actually use.

So I created Fuel Your Mind šŸ’™

A simple, realistic guide to help university students:

šŸ„— Build balanced meals & snacks
šŸ›’ Grocery shop without breaking the budget
šŸ³ Make quick, easy meals
🧊 Store and prepare food safely
šŸ’Ŗ Build simple habits around nourishment, movement & mindset

No perfection. No complicated meal plans. Just practical tools to help students feel a little more confident taking care of themselves while they’re away.

A little behind-the-scenes look at something I’ve been pouring my heart into. šŸ’š

As a dietitian and a mom preparing to send my daughters back to university, I know how much parents worry:

āž”ļø Will they eat enough when life gets busy?
āž”ļø Will they know what meals to make?
āž”ļø Will they take care of themselves when stress builds?

That’s what inspired Fuel Your Mind—a practical guide designed to help university students nourish their bodies, move in ways that feel good and care for their mindset.

It’s filled with simple meals, realistic strategies and a 7-day wellness challenge to help students feel more confident caring for themselves.

Fuel Your Mind launches tomorrow! Follow along so you don’t miss it—and share this with a university student or parent who would love this kind of support. ✨

And just like that… she’s off to university. šŸ¤šŸŽ“

As a mom, I’m feeling all the things — proud, excited and a little emotional as it’s always an adjustment going from a full house to a quieter one šŸ˜”

As a dietitian, I’m also thinking about all the little things that help our kids take care of themselves when we’re no longer there to remind them.

Eat something before class.
Keep easy food in the fridge.
Get outside.
Move your body.
Call home. ā¤ļø
And remember — taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be perfect.

University is about so much more than what happens in the classroom. It’s also where so many young adults begin learning how to truly take care of themselves.

And as I’ve been preparing my own daughters for this next chapter, it inspired something I’ve been working on behind the scenes…

Fuel Your Mind — coming soon. šŸŽ“āœØ

Come along for a Costco haul as I help stock my daughter’s university kitchen! šŸŽ“šŸ›’

When shopping for university, I look for foods that are:

✨ Quick and easy
✨ Versatile
✨ Satisfying
✨ Realistic for busy class days

This haul includes protein-rich snacks, frozen fruits and vegetables, simple meal staples and a convenient frozen meal for those nights when cooking just isn’t happening.

Because nourishing yourself at university doesn’t require elaborate meals or hours in the kitchen. A few practical foods on hand can make balanced eating so much easier.

And parents—if you’re wondering how to help your student feel more prepared to feed and care for themselves at university, something is coming soon to make it easier. šŸ‘€

Where is your happy place? 🌊

Growing up by the ocean, I don’t think I realized just how lucky I was. It was simply home—and something I probably took for granted.

But the older I get, the more I notice what happens when I’m near the water.

I slow down. I breathe a little deeper. I feel calmer, more present and more like myself.

Taking care of ourselves isn’t only about how we eat or how we move. It’s also about recognizing the people, places and moments that help us feel grounded and at peace. šŸ¤

For me, that place will always be the ocean.

Where is your happy place—the place where you can just exhale?

08/25/2026

1. Eggs.
Quick, affordable protein for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

2. Greek yogurt.
Easy protein for breakfast or a quick snack.

3. Frozen fruit and vegetables.
No chopping, no food waste—and an easy way to add colour to almost any meal.

University meals don’t need to be fancy.
Simple foods can make eating well so much easier.

I’ve been working on something to make feeding yourself at university a whole lot easier! Students and parents …stay tuned šŸ‘€šŸŽ“
