The upside to my low back being totally toasted in early postpartum is that all of my focused (forced and required) stretching and strengthening really benefited my pelvic floor (in addition to my prenatal workouts and smooth labor). I’m now regularly jumping in my workouts with no issues (better than pre kids even!). I should be more than ready to start running with the stroller once babe #2 is ready (easily sitting independently, likely in the next 6-8 weeks). I’m getting excited to start racing again and considering these ones next year:

✨ Sport Manitoba’s indoor duathlons in Jan/Feb/March
✨ Riding Mountain Duathlon in August
✨ Hyrox! Not sure when or where yet

Share with me your favorite races or one you’re signed up for! I have talked to a few people racing this fall.

A lovely little EMOM (every minute on the minute) to slowly build back up my cardio. I love interval work. I did it for 10 minutes. You could easily do more or less.

EMOM for 10:
4 lungsters (reverse lunge + overhead press)
4 burpees
Rest until the next minute

Go get it! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

✨ Strengthening my core without sit-ups ✨

I’d much rather use kettlebells and dumbbells to challenge my core than do sit ups. Not that a sit up isn’t functional (you likely sit up to get out of bed every morning), I just enjoy moving weight around and love the challenge of one sided movements. I’m also finding more dynamic movements (like the kettlebell) are creating more resilience in my back.

10 minutes:
5 single leg deadlifts / side
10 single arm kettlebell swings
5 single arm thrusters / side

Adding workouts like these to my daily core stretching and strengthening routine to try to stay ahead of my low flare ups!

How far does $100 go at Once Upon a Child?

3️⃣ things I need for a successful shop:
✨ A good mood
✨ Zero time constraints
✨ Coffee!

I’m on the hunt for:
✨ Footless sleepers - first born gets the cute stuff, second born gets the easy stuff.
✨ Toddler runners - good kids shoes are so expensive and they grow out of them so fast! They’re hard to find secondhand, but I look for a wide toe box, minimal drop and flexible sole.
✨ The next size up. I don’t like having to buy out of desperation. I like having a few things that are a bit big. When it’s second hand, grab it fast! You might not see it again.

Why I love OUAC:
✨ Amazing prices - these little clothes can be so expensive brand new!
✨ Great brands and quality - I can often find organic cotton products ❤️❤️❤️
✨ Less stuff in the landfill - and less fast fashion buys from me. I love buying secondhand as much as possible. A good find is so satisfying!
✨ Always sales and promos

What an honor and a privilege to see all of the things we could find for $100! I came in just over budget, at $103, when they showed me the cutest sleeper 🤪🤪🤪
