Nothing a little dopamine purchase can’t fix 😅🫣

When I lost Elise, one of the strangest things was how often people would look right at me and ask, “How are your parents doing?” 🤨💬

Don’t get me wrong—I completely agree that no parent should ever have to lose a child. The pain they carry is unimaginable 💔. But standing there as the grieving sibling, hearing “I can’t even fathom what your mom and dad are going through” while my own world was completely shattered felt… a little surreal. 🙃😂

Friendly reminder: Sibling grief is real, it’s heavy, and it’s definitely not a cake walk. 🙅‍♀️🍰

To anyone else who has ever felt like the “forgotten griever” in the room—I see you 🫂. Your loss matters just as much. 🤍✨

Who doesn’t need a little reminder like this one after a long weekend? You’ve survived every single bad thing that has ever happened to you. I hope you see the strength in that (even when you’re tired of being strong). 💜

This little memory popped up on my personal page yesterday.

These photos were from Elise’s bachelorette party, where we gathered to celebrate Elise starting her next chapter with her fiancé. Little did we know we would lose her days later and only a few weeks before her wedding day.

The name of my business, , came to me as I reflected on the different writing exercises I used to heal my heart after my sister’s death.

Grief evolves and softens but it is ever present. Even 7 years after her death. 💙 We were so lucky to have this ray of sunshine and karaoke QUEEN in our lives for as long as we did. May we all grab life by the mic at every opportunity 🎤

🚨 Media Statement: CTS Closures in Ottawa

Over the weekend, news broke that funding for Consumption and Treatment Sites (CTS) in Ottawa will be cut starting this June.

At Cornerstone, we are deeply concerned.

Closing them will have real consequences:
⚠️ Increased health risks
⚠️ Greater strain on emergency services
⚠️ Increased stigma for people who use drugs

These sites are more than services — they are lifelines. They connect people to care, reduce harm, and create pathways to housing, stability, and healing.

In your 30s your best friend will text you and say,
“Wanna rent office space together?”
And the wild thing is—you’ll say yes,
not knowing that one little yes is about to stop you dead in your tracks and stop you from playing small in your career.

A year later, I’m walking through these rooms and everything in me just… softens.
A place where my work stopped being a vision board and started being a lived thing.
A place where I finally felt my career click into place, like:
Oh. This is what I’m going to be doing. HEARD.

The walls have seen the late nights, the quiet victories, the “holy crap we are really doing this” moments that hit you right in the chest.
This space held my growth without demanding I rush it.
Our office let me expand, breathe, and actually feel the business I’m building instead of just thinking about it.

I’m so proud of us.
I’m so proud of this space.
And I’m so stupidly excited for what’s next!
Follow along for more sappy s**t from your local therapist 😂

🤍✨

Grief is wild because it doesn’t schedule itself. It doesn’t RSVP. It just shows up, taps you on the shoulder, and suddenly you’re crying on public transit like you’re in some trendy indie film.

This story is from my sister’s first birthday after she died in 2019. I shared it then, and I’m sharing it again now, because so many of us are carrying love that no longer has a body to land on. And that love still needs somewhere to go.

If you’ve ever been ambushed by a memory…
If you’ve ever felt the air leave your lungs out of nowhere…
If you’ve ever been struck by the sweetness and brutality of what used to be—
you’re in good company here.

Loss doesn’t mean you’re broken.
It means you loved deeply.
It means your heart remembers and yearns.

And if you’re grieving while also trying to function, parent, work, dream, heal, or just… exist?
You don’t have to do that alone.

💙 If you want support navigating grief, trauma, or the way life keeps shifting under your feet, we are here. 🫶
