The 2025/2026 Careers Beyond Academia seminar series, hosted by SCN and Medicine by Design, explored a range of career pathways for researchers and trainees. 🔬

This year’s sessions covered:

🔹 Technology Transfer & Intellectual Property: Chris Leclerc, MESc (Intellectual Property Ontario) and Julia Antoniw MSc (University of British Columbia)

For more than two decades, SCN has played a critical role in strengthening Canada’s regenerative medicine ecosystem by training the next generation of scientists, clinicians, and innovators.

Our new report, Building Canada’s Regenerative Medicine Workforce: An Impact Analysis of SCN Training, examines outcomes from SCN-supported training between 2020 and 2025.

📊 Key findings include:
• 2000+ trainee participants in 100+ national training events
• 88% of alumni employed in Canada
• 82% report SCN training advanced their career success

Together, these results demonstrate how targeted training investments translate into workforce readiness, career success, and long-term talent retention in Canada.

Depuis plus de deux décennies, le RCS joue un rôle essentiel dans le renforcement de l’écosystème canadien de la médecine régénératrice en formant la prochaine génération de scientifiques, de cliniciens et d’innovateurs.

Notre nouveau rapport, intitulé Bâtir la main-d’œuvre en médecine régénératrice au Canada : Analyse d’impact de la formation du RCS, examine les résultats des formations que le RCS a soutenues de 2020 à 2025.

📊 Principaux constats :
• Plus de 2 000 stagiaires ont participé à plus de 100 événements de formation nationaux
• 88 % des anciens sont employés au Canada
• 82 % ont affirmé que les formations du RCS ont favorisé leur réussite professionnelle

Ensemble, ces résultats démontrent que nos investissements ciblés dans la formation se traduisent par une meilleure préparation de la main-d’œuvre, des réussites professionnelles et la rétention à long terme des talents au Canada.

SCN is pleased to announce the appointment of four new expert members to its Board of Directors, John Alho, Wayne Critchley, Susan Marlin, and Liz Williams.

SCN is also delighted to share that Tamer Mohamed, Founder & CEO of Aspect Biosystems, has assumed the role of Chair, and Nadine Beauger, Senior Director of Technology and Innovation Development Office, at Boston Children’s Hospital has taken on the position of Vice Chair.

SCN’s outgoing Board Chair, Declan Hamill, will continue to serve on the Board for an additional year.

Le RCS est également heureux d’annoncer que Tamer Mohamed, fondateur et PDG d’Aspect Biosystems, assumera la présidence du CA et que Nadine Beauger, directrice principale du Bureau du développement technologique et de l’innovation au Boston Children’s Hospital, en assumera le poste de vice-présidente.
