Congratulations to Laurie Tucker and Priya Shah of Burn Tucker Lachaîne PC on their June 3, 2026 victory at the Court of Appeal: Davis v. Ng, 2026 ONCA 387

In October 2024, they obtained a $656,000 jury verdict in favour of their 48-year-old injured motorcyclist client. The defendant, represented by an automobile insurer, appealed the trial judge’s decision to refuse their request to adjourn the trial. They asked the Court to order a new trial. The Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal, finding no error in the trial judge’s decision, and ordered costs in the agreed amount of $20,000, payable to the plaintiff.

As Ms. Tucker noted, “This appeal unnecessarily delayed compensation to an injured plaintiff by almost 2 years."

This morning, our own Alison Gilmour took the stage at the OTLA Spring Conference alongside Jason Singer to present on Fighting for Fair Value in LTD Claims.

Alison’s session tackled one of the most complex strategic decisions in long-term disability litigation: reinstatement vs. lump sum settlements. From navigating conflicting interests to weighing the very real cost implications for clients, Alison brought her signature depth and advocacy to a room full of plaintiff-side practitioners.

We’re incredibly proud to have Alison representing Burn Tucker Lachaine!
