Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. - Psalm 127:3-5

Prayer: God help me to love my children more, to serve them not begrudgingly but with joy, help me to stop escaping my current season and rush to the next. Children are whole people too, they hear the ways we can view them as inconvenience and it’s important to remember that this doesn’t make motherhood any easier.

Contentment doesn’t cancel out ambition. There’s a misconception that contentment means you’ve lost your ambitious spirit when you become a mom. You can be radically content in your life and in your season and still have ambition. It’s okay to let certain ambitions or desires take a back seat because of your season of life.

Being a good steward of your health doesn’t require most of what people are telling you online. Focus on the basic habits first, things like drinking enough water for your body, eating balanced meals, moving your body consistently, having a good sleep and rest routine.

You are not enough but God is enough and that is great news. Where you fail, God won’t, where you struggle, God doesn’t and in your weakness God is strong. I don’t know about you but this is the best news to me because I know I’m limited and I’m glad I don’t have to try to be limitless.

Let God use motherhood as a tool for refinement, because motherhood stretches you both literally and figuratively it can also be the best way for God to grow us if we let Him.

This week I pray you can let God meet you in all you do. Have the best week

The best way to make your nutrition more sustainable is to keep things simple, instead of thinking of the best supplements or the best diet think of habits. Here are the habits I help my clients focus on first:

✅Drinking enough water to support their body and life.
✅Eating balanced meals: veggies, fruits, protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fat (not all at once but slowly changing eating habits)
✅Meal planning and meal prepping
✅Making time for sleep and rest: sleep and rest has a big impact on how your body processes the food you’re feeding it.
✅Learning the best way to eat for your own body and unique goals.

Which of these habits throw you off the loop the most?

When I first started working out more than 10 years ago things were different in regards to social media, there wasn’t a lot of information on what to do or not do or maybe I just wasn’t focusing on that. My initial reason for wanting to workout was because of the feeling, it felt good to move my body and as time progressed I wanted to understand how to work out better. I got a trainer to help me understand the fundamentals of strength training. Immediately I was able to use a barbell. I knew it would always be my preferred kind of training. I like to dabble into different ways of moving my body but I always come back to strength training and the research is more than clear, strength training needs to be in every woman’s health/fitness training routine.

Why should strength training be in your health and fitness toolbox?? Because strength training is simply the foundation upon which all other modalities of training that you wish to engage in will be best built upon. If you are a woman who loves running, strength training will simply give you an edge over injury, muscle fatigue and longevity to not only run but run well. This will be the case for any other activity you enjoy.

Remember when you start strength training you are not jumping to lifting heavy weights, you actually start by making sure you’re doing movements properly with just your body weight, then depending on your capabilities you can start to load either with free weights, machine or just resistance bands. So many women hear about strength training and they start to talk about injuries, the risks and of course there’s risks but that’s why you need guidance to get started.

Muscle is going to be your best friend as you get older so you can continue to worry about the wrong things or you can actually start to do something that’s within your control. Your genetics and nutrition etc will influence what you look like from strength training.

If you’re ready to start your strength training journey, comment “Strong” and I’ll keep you posted on a beginners strength training program coming in the fall.

Serving size for vegetables in this case greens.

A serving size of spinach is 2 fistfuls of fresh spinach which is 2 cups or 1/2 cup of cooked spinach.

In my private Consistency Accountability group we are currently doing a challenge that involves getting 5 servings of fruits and veggies (3 servings of fruits and 2 servings of veggies or vice versa). The great thing about aiming to get the 5 a day is that you’re more likely to meet fibre goals, it also encourages you to eat better overall.

If you want the free pdf that outlines serving sizes, tips on how to get your 5 a day comment “5 a day” and I’ll send it to you.
