speech and language services to children of all ages and with different levels of abilities. We believe that successful communicators are those who can reflect on and consciously ponder about how communication works. Through our individualized and evidence-based services, we enable children to develop self-awareness and critical thinking skills as they apply their communication skills. This will help them to succeed both academically and socially across different settings.

Combining kinetic sand with a classic SLP game! We think many SLPs will recognize it right away! 🤩🤩

Tell us in the comments if you know which game this is from! We’ve had this game for over a decade 🙌, and it’s still holding up (well, maybe not the box 😅).

Why put two toys together? It helps meet sensory preference of the child while trying out new activities and learning new vocabulary, concepts and play skills!

We are excited to welcome two UBC Master of Speech-Language Pathology students (Lexia & Erin) to Speech Meta as they begin their pediatric practicum placements across both of our clinic locations! 🎉

Today is their first day in Richmond, where Jacqueline spent the morning providing orientation and a clinic tour. Throughout their placement, they will be supported and mentored by their clinical supervisors, Shannon and Jacqueline 🥰.

We look forward to being part of their learning journey and are excited to have them on our team over the coming months. ❤️

Looking for a fun Saturday activity this summer? Join us at Speech Meta Vancouver for stories, crafts and games with friends!

Led by two UBC student volunteers, Channah & Lizzy, this free community program is designed for children ages 4–8 and focuses on connection, creativity, and fun.

🏃‍♀️💨🧠 Brain Power Run Club Season 4 is open & we have some spots remaining!
 
An inclusive run club designed for neurodivergent kids and teens where movement becomes a tool for connection, confidence, and growth. 
 
While we definitely work on running skills, one of the biggest things we focus on is developing a growth mindset. 
 
At Brain Power Run Club, kids learn that success isn’t about being the fastest or finishing first. It’s about trying something hard, persevering when things feel challenging, celebrating effort, learning from mistakes, and discovering that they can do things they once thought were impossible. 
 
Through games, movement, conversations, and running, we practice: 
✨ Resilience 
✨ Self-confidence 
✨ Teamwork 
✨ Self-advocacy 
✨ Growth mindset 
 
We create a space where every child can participate in a way that works for them, whether that means running, walking, taking breaks, cheering on friends, or setting their own personal goals.

Today, we celebrate the work of Speech-Language Pathologists and the many ways they help support communication, connection, and understanding for individuals across the lifespan. 🤍

Being an SLP is about so much more than speech. It is about helping people communicate in ways that work for them, supporting confidence and relationships, and creating access to learning, participation, and everyday life.

We are so thankful for our SLP team at Speech Meta! From playful moments in therapy rooms to meaningful conversations with families, educators and other professionals, this work involves so much patience, flexibility, creativity, collaboration, and deep clinical thinking every single day.

The impact is often built slowly over time through trust, consistency, connection, advocacy, problem-solving, and celebrating the small moments that become meaningful milestones.

Happy National SLP Day to all the SLPs supporting communication in all its forms. 🫶

Today at Speech Meta, we hosted the final session of the second round of our Cantonese Autism Family Circle Parent Support Group.

In recognition of Asian Heritage Month and Better Speech and Hearing Month this May, we are especially grateful to have SLPs who can create a space where Cantonese-speaking families can come together through the journey of raising neurodivergent children. 🤍

This group runs once a month, with each round including 3 sessions. As part of this pilot parent support project, we are currently offering the group free of charge for Speech Meta families as we continue learning, growing, and building community together. ❤️

Thank you to all the parents who joined us today and openly shared your experiences and insights with one another. We packed a lot of learning and discussion into one hour together today, and it was such a meaningful time of reflection, connection, and support as we continue learning alongside one another. 🤍
