Warning: This is going to be a sad post for many of you… ❤️🐾

Yesterday was Nookie’s last day at Speech Meta Richmond 🥹. If you’ve ever met Nookie, you’ll know he was never “just a clinic dog.” He was a quiet source of comfort, a friendly face waiting to greet you (more like a clinic manager), and a gentle companion who somehow always seemed to know when someone is new to the clinic or needed a little extra love.

Over the years, Nookie has been part of so many moments at Speech Meta. He has welcomed countless children through our doors, accepted endless hugs and cuddles (even in the middle of his naps), patiently sat through busy clinic days, and brought smiles to families, clinicians, and our entire team. For some children, Nookie was one of the highlights of coming to Speech Meta every week. 🐾

Yesterday was Nookie’s last day at the clinic. This has been one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make 🥹.

As our clinic continues to grow, we’ve been thinking carefully about how to create a space where every person who walks through our doors feels comfortable, safe, and welcome. While so many children, families, and team members adore Nookie, we also recognize that some children and adults may have allergies, fears of dogs, or simply feel more at ease in a pet-free environment.

This decision doesn’t diminish how much he has meant to us or the incredible love and joy he has brought to our community. If anything, it reminds us that caring for others sometimes means making difficult choices with everyone’s needs in mind.

Thank you for loving Nookie so well over the years. He will always be a cherished part of the Speech Meta family and will always have a special place in our hearts.

We’ll miss you, sweet boy. ❤️🐶 Have so much fun at school, make lots of new friends, and enjoy this next adventure. This isn’t goodbye forever as I know we’ll be seeing you again very soon at Speech Meta outdoor events and gatherings. 🤍

A very special thank you to Ivy for opening her heart and adopting Nookie in the first place, and for bringing him into the Speech Meta family. ❤️

(Missing a few important team members in the photos but gathered these from the team).

Back at Panda AAC Camp again this year, celebrating their 5th year anniversary! ❤️ What a privilege it is to be part of this fun and inclusive camp for children who use AAC.

This year, we were honoured to sponsor the camp, volunteer alongside so many incredible people, and host a Speech Meta booth. A special thank you to the camp organizers for welcoming our team and giving us a tour.

We are so grateful to be part of this amazing community.
It was such a joy to connect with campers, families, volunteers, aspiring speech-language pathologists, and other wonderful organizations!

There truly is nothing quite like Panda AAC Camp. ❤️
It is an inclusive, AAC-immersive experience designed especially for children with disabilities whose primary mode of communication is AAC. Throughout the week, AAC is everywhere. Inclusion is the norm. Children have the opportunity to connect, participate, communicate, and simply be themselves in a community that truly understands them.

It is a joyful, empowering, and unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Our wish is that every day could feel a little more like Panda AAC Camp, where every AAC user belongs, every voice is valued, and everyone has the opportunity to communicate, connect, and be celebrated.

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back, we highly encourage you to volunteer or become a sponsor. We know you’ll walk away feeling humbled, inspired and empowered, just as we have year after year.

To see more of this incredible camp, be sure to check out !

Thank you, Panda AAC Camp, for having us. We can’t wait to be back next year! ❤️ And, thank you everyone for visiting our booth!

Special interests can be one of the most powerful tools in speech-language therapy.

Today’s session was entirely inspired by a love of sensory play. Together we transformed simple cardboard into toast, a stove, and painting canvases, while playdough became jam, art supplies, and ingredients for cooking blue gnocchi.

When we build on what a child already loves, we create meaningful opportunities for communication, imagination, problem-solving, turn-taking, and language development!!

Sometimes, the best therapy materials aren’t fancy at all. We had such a fun time together and our client initiated a lot of language using his AAC! ❤️
