Are your vestibular skills keeping pace with concussion care? 🤔
The latest Consensus Statement on Concussion in Sport recommends cervicovestibular rehabilitation when dizziness, neck pain and/or headaches persist.
So here’s a question worth asking:
What have you done to level up your vestibular assessment & treatment skills? 🧠
The VOMS is a useful screening tool, but it is only a screen.
If a patient becomes dizzy during VOMS testing, what comes next? 👀
Can you determine why they became symptomatic? Can you assess the vestibulo ocular reflex beyond symptom provocation? Identify peripheral versus central findings? Assess positional vertigo? Recognize when the cervical spine, migraine, visual system or other factors may be contributing?
And, most importantly, can you use those findings to develop a targeted treatment plan?
As concussion care continues to evolve, simply identifying that a patient has “vestibular symptoms” isn't enough. We need the clinical skills to investigate them.
Come join us in Calgary 🇨🇦 this November for our Vestibular Therapy Foundations Course for Health Care Providers.
We’ll build the practical assessment and treatment skills you can take back to the clinic and start using with your patients. 🙌
