A friendly reminder that Daylight Saving Time ends this coming Sunday at 2am, when clocks “fall back” one hour.

Your phone, tablet, and devices should automatically make this time change on Sunday, November 1st, at 2am. However, if you have any battery operated clocks or appliances with clocks in your home, these may need to be changed manually.

Helpful Tip: This is also a great time to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are in proper working order and to change the batteries if required, and to make plans to have your winter driving tires installed as temperatures fall across the province.

October is Occupational Therapy Month. 💙

Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants help people participate in the everyday activities that are meaningful and important to them. From getting dressed and preparing meals to working, learning, connecting with others and living safely and independently at home.

Across hospitals, homes, schools, workplaces, and communities, OTs and OTAs help people find practical solutions to overcome barriers and make everyday life more accessible.

This month, we're proud to recognize occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants and the important role they play in helping people live safely, indepentantly and meaningfully.

What shapes safer care?

During Canadian Patient Safety Week, we're joining healthcare organizations across Canada in recognizing that safe care is shaped through everyday interactions, decisions, relationships, environments and systems.

Whether care happens in a hospital, clinic, community setting or someone's home, every interaction is an opportunity to strengthen safety.

Because safer care is something we all help shape.

Small actions can have a big impact on infection prevention.

Clean your hands regularly. Cover coughs and sneezes. Clean frequently touched surfaces and shared equippment. When you are unwell, take appropriate precautions to help protect the people around you.

Infection prevention doesn't happen because of one person, it happens when all of us make safe practices part of our everyday routines.

This National Infection Control Week, remember: infection prevention is powered by you.

Preventing infection is everyone's responsibility and every day actions make a difference.

October 19 - 23 is National Infection Control Week. This year's theme, "IPAC: Powered by You", recognizes the role each of us plays in infection prevention and control.

From proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette to cleaning shared equipment and following infection prevention practices, simple actions help protect clients, families, healthcare professionals and our communities.

We're also proud to recognize the healthcare professionals and infection prevention and control teams whose knowledge and commitment help keep care safer every day.

October 12th is World Arthritis Day.

For people living with arthritis, everyday activities that many of us take for granted can sometimes become painful or challenging.

Support, appropriate treatment, movement, assistive strategies and adaptations can help people living with arthritis continue participating in the activities that matter to them.

This World Arthritis Day, we're helping raise awareness and recognizing the millions of people whose lives are affected by arthritis, as well as the families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals who support them.

Mental health is health. 💚

On World Mental Health Day, we're reminded of the importance of listening, reducing the stigma and creating spaces where people feel safe asking for support.

Mental health experiences are different for everyone. Compassion, connection, and access to appropriate care and resources can make a meaningful difference.

Today, and every day, let's make room for conversations about mental health and remember that seeking support is a sign of strength.
