🚨EMO Exercise Completed at Cove Guest Home🚨

Today, July 23, 2026, Cove Guest Home conducted an Emergency Management Organization (EMO) exercise as part of our ongoing commitment to resident safety and emergency preparedness.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Cape Breton Regional Municipality Fire & Emergency Services, especially Bruce MacDonald, Manager of Emergency Management for the CBRM, for their support and participation. We would also like to thank the volunteer observers who attended and helped evaluate our response procedures and policies. Your valuable feedback helps us continue to strengthen our emergency planning and preparedness efforts.

A special thank you goes out to our dedicated staff members for taking part in the training leading up to the EMO exercise and for their active participation in today's event. We appreciate your professionalism, teamwork, and ongoing commitment to keeping our residents safe. Most importantly, thank you for the exceptional care you provide every day and for always doing your best to keep our residents safe.

Preparedness is a team effort, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of today's exercise.

We are looking for people with flexible schedules and food preparation experience to join our team on a casual (on-call) basis as Support Services Workers.

This role includes a combination of shifts in Laundry, Housekeeping, and Food Services. Shifts start as early as 6:00 AM and may run as late as 9:30 PM.

The ideal candidates are reliable, compassionate individuals who can report to work on short notice. Working in a fast-paced environment requires strong teamwork and communication skills to help coordinate effective services for our residents, who are at the heart of everything we do at the Cove.

On June 25, we celebrated our amazing volunteers and all that they do to help make our Home the best place it can be for our residents, who are at the heart of everything we do at the Cove.

Our volunteers donate their time, talent, and energy, and without them, the Cove wouldn’t be the same. To every single volunteer who has helped us along the way, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are incredibly grateful for people like you!

Special thanks to everyone who helped make this day possible -- from our Recreation team who planned and decorated, to our Kitchen staff who handmade all the delicious food, and to the many helping hands!
