This past weekend, the Medcan team joined more than 4,800 riders in the 19th Ride to Conquer Cancer, helping raise funds for life-saving research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre – one of the world’s leading cancer research and treatment facilities.

Our team of 27 riders raised $82,921.44 for cancer research.

“We’re incredibly proud of this year’s team. Last year, 12 riders raised just over $30,000. This year, we grew to 27 riders, and we’re committed to building on that momentum. Our goal for next year is to reach $100,000,” said Sean Trotman, Medcan’s Fitness Team Lead who helped plan the ride alongside Medcan’s Chief Information Officer, Neil Mahon.

“The route this year was also exceptionally challenging given the hills, heat and headwinds,” said Trotman.

While each rider was driven by their own why for participating, together we’re contributing to real momentum toward a future where cancer no longer defines the health of Canadians.

When asked about the day, Medcan’s Head of Clinical Innovation, Allison Hazell, shared: “It was a challenging ride, but whenever it felt tough, I thought about the strength of those who have faced cancer – something far more difficult than a day on a bike.”

It was a privilege to stand alongside this community in support of better outcomes through innovation, early detection, and research.

Cottage and summer sports season is here.

Pickleball, paddleboarding, golf, swimming, tennis – they’re fun, but they also ask your body to handle movements you might not have done in months.

As Medcan Fitness Manager Simon Lim notes, cottage sports can be risky precisely because we are not used to doing these movements every day.

“Most people go from sitting at a desk all week to asking their bodies to move fast, twist hard and react quickly,” says Lim.

But before you hit the lake, sand or turf, or try kick a ball with as much flair as that FIFA pro you just saw, Simon has some simple, practical guidance to share.

He also has advice for avoiding what he calls the ‘rule of too’ – doing too much, too soon or too hard.

If there was one clear takeaway from our Beyond Hot Flashes webinar, it was this: when it comes to menopause and perimenopause, women have more questions than answers.

Ahead of the webinar, we received hundreds of questions from women who are looking for clarity and support. Then, during the session, we addressed some of the most common themes, with clinical insights and guidance from our women’s health experts, including Dr. Jennifer Zelovitzky, who leads our Menopause and Perimenopause program.

Here are three of the most common questions we tackled:

➡️ I feel like I’m doing everything I should, so why am I struggling to manage my weight?
➡️ I’m having skin issues and I’m losing my hair (help!) – is there anything I can do?
➡️ Can I take a hormone test to confirm I’m in perimenopause?

Swipe to learn how our experts addressed these topics.

To help answer these questions and many more about this life stage, we’ve developed two practical guides that will give you clinically grounded, trusted insights.

Medcan’s guide to perimenopause and our guide on Menopause Hormone Therapy (MHT) helps break through the misinformation and offer clarity on these important topics.
