Guess who got supper for $4 today?! 😂🙋‍♀️
Meeee!! Hahaha

My Shoppers had the wrong sticker in front of the Shepherd’s Pie, as usual, my store always seems to miss something lol..

So the sticker actually said Cavendish Fries, but I asked superrr nicely if they could honour the price on it 🥹

They only let me get one, which was totally fair! Especially since it was the whole wrong product lol, but I was honestly so surprised and grateful that they honoured it at all! 💝😮

Times are tough, thank you so much nice manager person, I’ll happily take any savings I can get! Like bruh, I saved almost $18 + tax on dinner!! Heck yeah! 😭🙌🏻

🛒 Little tip: if you notice a pricing mistake, it never hurts to politely ask a manager if they can honour it. They might say no, but it doesn’t hurt to try! ❤️

Having worked in retail myself, esp back at Ardene, I know the drill firsthand, whenever we missed a sign or a price change, we would always honour it for the customer first, and then go fix the mistake immediately after.

Legally in Ontario, stores don't actually have to honour a wrong price if it's a genuine mistake (especially when it's a completely different product tag like this was), so being super nice is your best bet! A lot of managers have the flexibility to give you the discount as a goodwill gesture if you just be polite and stay kind about it, also stay cool even if you don’t get anything.. 🛍️

If you’re rude or angry tho, don’t expect anyone to go out of their way to do you a favour.. 😂

😩 I swear, why can’t people do a little research before choosing a business name?!

I already had to change my business name once from The Mystic Peach because someone started using my name and trademarked it in Canada, even though I had been using the name first for almost a decade. Unfortunately, at the time I didn’t have the money to fight it. 💔

And the worst part? They ended up trademarking The Mystic Peach for waxing services. I had to change the name I had been using for years because someone decided to trademark it too wax ass. 😒

So now seeing another business using The Mystic Pumpkin, a name I’ve been using for YEARS, you can imagine why I’m a little miffed about it. 😩

I know someone is probably going to say, “Well, if you really wanted to protect your name, you should have trademarked it.”

And yes, I understand that. But not every small business has hundreds of dollars sitting around to spend on trademarks and government licensing, especially when you’re starting out and trying to put every dollar back into your business. Or your fridge. Some people simply don’t have the means, or may not want to spend their limited profits on something like that.

That’s why I really believe respect and a little research go a long way. If you’re starting a business, please take five minutes to search the name you’re thinking about.
Check Facebook, Instagram, Google, TikTok, business registries, trademarks, ALL OF IT.

If you find another small business that has clearly been using that name for years, maybe choose something else.
There are literally millions of names out there!! 🤷🏼‍♀️

A business name can represent years of work, money, creativity, memories and a whole lot of heart. It’s not just a name..💜🎃

I’m looking into things and costs, because I really, REALLY don’t want to have to reinvent my business name a second time! 😭

The Mystic Peach was born on my kitchen floor. The Mystic Pumpkin grew from it. And I don’t wanna go through changing my brand a second time.. 🎃💜

And honestly, if you genuinely didn’t realize someone was already using the name, then okay, I can understand that. But personally, I would never want to choose a business name that someone else was already using. I would never want to build my business on top of someone else’s hard work or make another small business feel like they had to start all over again. Once you know, I just think it’s about having a little respect for the person who was there first. 💜
