HSC staff learned that traditional drums carry a powerful reminder in their sound: our mother’s heartbeat and how important each of us are.

During a staff drum making workshop at HSC Women’s Hospital, Métis Elder Michael Thibert shared each of the materials used to make the drum carries its own teaching.

The wood represents the relationships that sustain life, the deer skin used to cover the ring reminds us of sacrifice and respect, and the water teaches us the importance of flexibility, compromise, and inclusivity in our relationships.

Ekosi, meegwetch, merci, thank you, Michael, for sharing these teachings with us. 🪶

🐶 Happy !

Meet the HSC Paw-fessionals: They may not have HSC badges, but their humans do.

Big dogs, little dogs, puppies, seniors, adventure buddies, and professional nappers; we loved meeting them all!

In celebration of National Dog Day, we’re handing the HSC website over to them. Click the link in bio!

Still in celebration of Project SEARCH's 10th anniversary, the Health Sciences Centre Foundation highlights Izabella Deise, who with the help of her classmates, turned their experience at HSC into an opportunity to support epilepsy care.

Together, they raised a few hundred dollars for HSC's Unit B5B — a donor-funded space for epilepsy and neurosurgery patients.

What do hospital gowns, wheelchairs, IV polls, and laughter have in common?

They all filled the HSC Children’s Hospital playroom during their first-ever Game Night!

From virtual bowling to Mario Kart, the evening gave Georgia and other young patients the chance to play together and simply be kids. They forgot, if only for a little while, that they are in the hospital.

Hospital stays can be tough, so sometimes it is good when the toughest challenge of the day is beating your new friend in Mario Kart!

Congratulations to two amazing HSC researchers! 👏

The Allied Health Research Committee is celebrating this year’s Catalyst Grant recipients:

🌍 Zoya Khan shared HSC innovation on the world stage at a conference in Europe, showcasing assistive tech developed right here in Manitoba to help make care more accessible and affordable.

♿ Allison Robinson is improving occupational therapy training with a new wheelchair seating education program that will help therapists build skills, improve safety, and support better patient care.

Huge congratulations to Zoya and Allison for the great work you’re doing for patients in Manitoba and beyond! We are so proud and grateful that you are part of the HSC team!
