Power and humor dance on fragile social ground,
Where laughter hides the limits that culture has found.
Bias seeps quietly, encoded in jest,
The mind receives it lightly, yet never at rest.
Propaganda whispers, yet the mind must prepare,
A fertile ground of grievance waits quietly there.
Recency, confirmation, shortcuts of thought,
Guide judgment more than reason, or lessons we’re taught.
Symbols shift shapes but not the structure beneath,
Religion, politics, identity — all play a motif.
Binary thinking insists on villains and saints,
A spectrum is lost as the psyche paints.
History morphs masks, yet patterns persist,
Cycles of conflict in structures exist.
Awareness may glimpse the loop spinning round,
But the human heart loves familiar ground.
