Thrilled to be in London for the next few days at the London CO2 & Blue Laser Laryngeal Airway Course! 🇬🇧👨‍⚕️

We have a truly exciting program ahead focusing on advanced laser surgery of the airway and vocal tract, including voice preservation and phonosurgery.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to attend this hands-on training at the anatomy labs of King’s College London / Guy’s Hospital London and to learn directly from world-class leaders in the field. A special thank-you to Yakubu Karagama and Shiying Hey (pictured with me) — it is an immense privilege to benefit from your extraordinary, internationally renowned expertise over the coming days!

Looking forward to two intensive days of practical insights, surgical techniques, and inspiring exchanges.

Münster transformed into a colorful and powerful Pride city which I can be proud to live in!

The Münster e.V. organized this annually demonstration which has definitely been a success!!!

Mit nur zwei Gegenstimmen bei knapp 300 Delegierten haben wir auf der Landesdelegiertenkonferenz ein starkes Signal in den Bund gesendet: Unsere Partei steht geschlossen hinter der Einführung der Widerspruchslösung in der Organspende. ✅

Die laufende Gesetzesinitiative im Bundestag ist ein wichtiger Schritt – für Menschen auf den Wartelisten, für medizinisches Personal, für unsere europäischen Partner im Eurotransplant-Verbund und vor allem auch für die Verstorbenen und ihre Angehörigen in einer extrem belastenden Entscheidungssituation. 🤝

Solidarität heißt für uns: über 8.000 Menschen auf den Wartelisten nicht länger warten zu lassen, jedes Jahr 600–700 vermeidbare Todesfälle zu verhindern und dafür zu sorgen, dass die Bereitschaft von über 80% der Menschen zur Organspende endlich wirksam werden kann. 🧡

Klar ist: Dieser Schritt allein reicht nicht aus. Wir nehmen Kritik und Bedenken ernst. Aber er ist ein zentraler Baustein von mehreren notwendigen Maßnahmen, um langfristig eine bessere Versorgung und mehr Solidarität zu erreichen. 🧩

🎉 Success – nach einem Jahr der Arbeit an der internationalen Initiative ist es heute offiziell: Unser Rotary Global Grant wurde bewilligt.
🌍 Gemeinsam mit unserem Musik Outreach Projekt in Kapstadt und unserem langjährigen Projektpartner, iThemba Labantu - Lutheran Community Centre , können wir mit diesem großen Förderantrag die Grundlage für einen wichtigen nächsten Entwicklungsschritt unserer Arbeit in Kapstadt schaffen.
👩‍🎓👨‍🔧 In den kommenden zwei Jahren werden 130 junge Menschen in vier Berufsfeldern ausgebildet, in Arbeit oder Anschlussqualifikationen begleitet und so auf ihrem Weg in die wirtschaftliche Selbstständigkeit unterstützt.
🔧☀️🍽️🎵 Der Grant ermöglicht den Aufbau professionell strukturierter Ausbildungswege in den Bereichen Solar- und Sanitärtechnik, Kfz-Mechanik, Küche & Gastronomie sowie als Local Music Facilitators. Durch qualifizierende Trainings, Mentoring und gezielte Unterstützung beim Übergang in Beschäftigung schaffen wir konkrete Einkommensperspektiven für junge Erwachsene und stärken gleichzeitig lokale Bildungs- und Gemeindestrukturen.
💡 Was vor einem Jahr als Idee begann, wird nun Realität. Vielen Dank an alle Partnerinnen und Partner, Unterstützerinnen und Unterstützer sowie die vielen Menschen, die ihre Zeit, ihr Wissen und ihr Vertrauen in dieses Projekt investiert haben.
🤝 Vielen Dank an die zahlreichen kooperierenden Rotary Clubs: RC Cape Town Waterfront, RC Münster-Rüschhaus, RC Münster St. Mauritz, Club Münster, Club Oldenburg Ammerland und RC Berlin Potsdamer Platz.
🚀 Wir freuen uns auf die nächsten zwei Jahre und darauf, die Entwicklung der Teilnehmenden begleiten zu dürfen.

Deeply honored to attend the 37th World Conference of Audiology. It has been an incredibly enriching experience — filled with groundbreaking scientific exchange, inspiring discussions with colleagues from around the globe, and a fantastic, flawlessly organized program.

Beyond the fascinating congress itself, I am absolutely captivated by the rich culture and the exceptional warmth of our South Korean hosts. From the breathtaking cultural presentations to the immense kindness we experience every single day, this journey is truly unforgettable.
Thank you to the organizers and the wonderful people of South Korea for putting on such a spectacular show and making us feel so incredibly welcome! 🙏🎶

The conference food will definitely stay on my mind for some time. I’ve never had such special food on a congress 🍱🍣

Furthermore I’m really moved by the performance of the K-Pop boy group .official . These three incredible talented artist are all dealing with severe hearing disabilities and managed to turn their disabilities into their advantage. As the world first hard-of-hearing boy band they redefine music and created an art form defined less by sound and more by self acceptance.
By blending passionate vocals with sign language they moved everybody in the room.
Hearing their grateful words to our community - „With your support, through the technology for the people with hearing impairments, we were able to make it!“ - was a powerful reminder of why our work matters!

Hearing loss is a hidden disease affecting over 1,5 billion people worldwide, causing an estimated $980 billion in annual global costs (WHO). Seeing Big Ocean turn their challenge into global inspiration motivates all of us to push clinical and scientific boundaries even further.

Thank you to our wonderful hosts for an unforgettable, deeply motivating experience! 🙏🎧🎶

I am incredibly proud to announce that this year marks the founding of the Young Phoniatricians Committee (YPC)! 🌍✨

The YPC is a new European committee dedicated to connecting young professionals in our field on an international level. Our mission is to create a space for networking, exchange, and mutual support, while increasing visibility for the vital medicine of voice, swallowing, hearing, and communication.

I am deeply honored and proud to serve as the Chair of this new initiative. I can’t wait for the first projects to be launched and am very much looking forward to future cooperations.

Together, we are giving our specialty a stronger voice! 🎤

Am gestrigen „World Voice Day“ 2026 hatte ich die Ehre im Podcast Kulturbeutel Münster zu Gast zu sein. 🎤

Zusammen mit dem Host Marco spreche ich, neben dem Thema Stimme natürlich, über den Spagat zwischen Medizin und Musik, soziales Engagement und wie man Brücken zwischen völlig verschiedenen Welten baut und das alles irgendwie unter einen Hut bekommt. 😅

Wenn ich es geschafft habe euch zu zeigen, dass man sich nicht immer auf einen Weg festlegen muss, habe ich mein Ziel erreicht!🤗

Ein wenig Zeit ist schon vergangen, aber auch mit ein bisschen Abstand bin ich immer noch ganz erfüllt und inspiriert von den tollen Menschen mit denen ich zusammenarbeiten durfte! 🤗🫶

Insgesamt können wir uns weiterhin über eine sehr positive Kritik freuen und die potsdamer Winteroper Zanaida, als großen Erfolg abstempeln!!! 🙏🥳🥳

Die Opernproduktion verging wirklich wie im Fluge und nun hat mich der Alltag in der Klinik wieder eingeholt. Es wird allerdings mit Sicherheit nicht das letzte Opernprojekt gewesen sein und ich freue mich schon auf alle kommenden Projekte!

This year I had the honor speaking on the Pevoc 26 (Pan European Voice Conference) in Istanbul. In my speech I talked about the different aspects of the voice. On the one hand side as a doctor I covered the health aspects on the other hand side as a countertenor who’s biggest tool is his voice and stressed the importance of healthy well functioning vocal cords.

It’s been such a great experience an besides other great speakers I visited a surgeon workshop to learn about new standards and methods. Such an enrichment and fun as well.

Now the every day life caught up to me and for the next weeks I’m going to be working in Münster in the clinic again.
