A Date with Miss Chicago 🧡💛

She had been asking me to go out for a while, and finally, the time allowed me to say yes.

There is something truly refreshing about being in the company of someone sincere, honest, and genuine. I really enjoyed her presence, and our conversation was both nurturing and uplifting. Sometimes, the simplest moments with the right person can leave you feeling lighter, more grounded, and grateful.

It reminded me that we have a choice in the people we allow into our lives and the energy we surround ourselves with. Choosing people who are sincere, kind, and genuine can make such a difference in how we feel and how we experience life.

A beautiful reminder that the company we keep is a choice — and choosing the right people can be one of the most nourishing choices we make.

A friend confided in me about how she felt after being invited to a party with a group of girls. She said the experience felt suffocating—as if the life had been drained out of her.

She later realized that the girls had invited her with an agenda: they were trying to manipulate her into disliking her son’s girlfriend. What was supposed to be a simple gathering turned into an attempt to influence how she saw someone her son cared about. She had no idea that these girls were enemies of her son’s girlfriend’s mother.

It made me think about how important it is to be mindful of the company we keep. Choose the people you surround yourself with, and especially the conversations you choose to sit in. Not every conversation deserves your presence, and not every invitation comes from a place of genuine friendship.

Sometimes, people don’t invite us because they genuinely want our presence—they invite us because they want something from us. Protect your peace. Be discerning about what you allow into your mind and heart.

Perhaps wildflowers are little pieces of an old secret the earth has forgotten to keep. ✨

They bloom wherever they please—along quiet paths, between stones, in places no one thought to plant them. No permission. No promise. No need to be noticed.

And yet, somehow, they find their moment.

Maybe that is their quiet wisdom:
**you don’t have to know where you belong to bloom beautifully.**

Some beauty is meant to be discovered by chance, gathered gently, and carried home as a reminder that magic has been growing around us all along. 🌿🧚‍♀️✨

I've been uncomfortable just to keep somebody else comfortable more times than I care to admit.

Stayed at the party when I was ready to go. Let a conversation drag on because I couldn't figure out how to end it without being an as***le. Kept answering calls I didn't want to answer. Kept people around because cutting them loose felt cruel, even when having them around felt worse.

And I don't think I was trying to be some great person. I just really hated the idea of somebody thinking I was rude.

That's a stupid reason to be miserable.

I'm still polite. I still care about people's feelings. I'm just finally figuring out that mine get a vote too.

And if that makes me a little rude sometimes, I can live with that.

4 a.m. Alone in the backyard. 🌌
Completely worth losing sleep over. 🌠

The 2026 Perseid meteor shower was one of those rare moments that makes you stop, look up, and simply take it all in. I tried to capture it, but the camera missed the magic. 😂
Some moments are meant to be witnessed, not photographed. ✨

And somehow, staring at a sky full of fleeting beauty makes you wonder what truly matters—and what we’re really living for. ❤️

This made me realize that we shouldn’t mistake temporary darkness for the disappearance of the light. The light is always there, even when we can’t see it.

One of my favorite questions to ask when things seem dark, sh*tty, or yucky is: What beautiful gift is hidden underneath this?

Hubby took this picture of me earlier today. He rarely does, but somehow, I can feel the tenderness in the way he must have looked at me from afar. 🤭

You’re allowed to leave any story you don’t find yourself in. You’re allowed to leave any story you don’t love yourself in.

You’re allowed to leave a city that has dimmed your light instead of making you shine brighter, you’re allowed to pack all your bags and start over somewhere else and you’re allowed to redefine the meaning of your life.

You’re allowed to quit the job you hate even if the world tells you not to and you’re allowed to search for something that makes you look forward to tomorrow and to the rest of your life.

You’re allowed to leave someone you love if they’re treating you poorly, you’re allowed to put yourself first if you’re settling and you’re allowed to walk away when you’ve tried over and over again but nothing has changed.

You’re allowed to let toxic friends go, you’re allowed to surround yourself with love, and people who encourage and nurture you. You’re allowed to pick the kind of energy you need in your life.

You’re allowed to forgive yourself for your biggest and smallest mistakes and you’re allowed to be kind to yourself, you’re allowed to look in the mirror and actually like the person you see.

You’re allowed to set yourself free from your own expectations.

We sometimes look at leaving as a bad thing or associate it with giving up or quitting, but sometimes leaving is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Leaving allows you to change directions, to start over, to rediscover yourself and the world. Leaving sometimes saves you from staying stuck in the wrong place with the wrong people.

Leaving opens a new door for change, growth, opportunities and redemption.

You always have the choice to leave until you find where you belong and what makes you happy.

You’re even allowed to leave the old you behind and reinvent yourself.

You’re allowed.
