Grief has no timetable.

Some days may feel lighter, while others can bring back memories and emotions as strongly as ever. Grief is not something we “get over” it is something we learn to carry as we continue to love and remember those who are no longer with us.

Be gentle with yourself and with others. A kind word, a listening ear, or simply being present can make a world of difference to someone who is grieving.

At difficult times, remembering that you are not alone can bring comfort.

💙 Every story is different. Every loss is personal. Every journey through grief deserves understanding and compassion.

Meet Mark Searle - funeral celebrant and Christian minister…
Mark has more than two decades of experience taking funerals. He began this work as a Church of England minister, serving in a wide variety of parishes, and has walked with many families through moments of grief, remembrance, and love.
Today, Mark works part-time leading a local church and part-time taking funerals, bringing the same steady presence, care, and pastoral sensitivity to every service. Mark will serve as a funeral celebrant and Christian minister, as led by the family. Mark’s approach is warm, personal, and unhurried—creating space for families to feel listened to and supported, especially when words are hard to find.
At the heart of Mark’s work is a simple focus: helping families tell their loved one’s story well. Every life is unique, and Mark takes time to listen carefully, gather the details that matter, and shape a farewell that feels true to the person—honest, dignified, and meaningful.
Mark originally trained as an actor before beginning ministry. He has also recently completed a postgraduate diploma in applied positive psychology and loves running and the outdoors.
It’s a privilege to serve families at such significant times. Mark’s hope is to bring calm reassurance, honour each life with respect, and help people say goodbye in a way that feels personal—whether that’s a non-religious celebration of life or with quiet Christian hope.

Meet Rev’d Andy Percy ….
As a pastor serving alongside our local community, I hold deeply to values that centre on compassion, dignity, and presence. In moments of loss, words often feel insufficient, but care, gentleness, and genuine human connection can speak volumes. I believe every life carries a unique story worth honouring, and every farewell deserves to reflect that individuality with respect and grace.

In ministry, I am guided by a commitment to walk with people through both light and shadow. Grief is not something to be hurried or fixed, but something to be held with patience and understanding. I strive to create space where families feel supported, heard, and able to remember their loved ones in ways that are meaningful to them.

As a person, I value authenticity, kindness, and humility. I aim to approach each family not as a role to fulfil, but as people to care for; listening carefully, speaking thoughtfully, and offering reassurance where it is needed most. My faith shapes my belief in hope, even in the midst of sorrow, and in the importance of community coming together to support one another.

It is a privilege to serve at such significant moments in people’s lives. My hope is always to bring comfort, honour each life well, and stand alongside families with quiet strength and compassion when they need it most.

We believe that having open and honest conversations about death and dying can help people feel more prepared, more supported, and less alone.

That belief is at the heart of our Caring with Confidence course, created in partnership with Hospice UK. In the Bath and Bristol area, our Funeral Director, Michelle delivers the sessions to care homes and home care providers, offering a safe and supportive environment where care teams can reflect on grief, loss, and the emotional impact of caring. Subjects that are often deeply felt but not always openly discussed.

The course encourages meaningful conversations around grief, compassionate leadership, and burnout, helping to normalise discussions that can sometimes feel difficult or uncomfortable. It gives care teams the confidence to talk openly, listen compassionately, and support one another, particularly following a bereavement.

Supporting our community also means supporting those who dedicate themselves to caring for others. Caring with Confidence is one of the ways we are helping to encourage important conversations around death, dying, and bereavement.

No matter your profession, if you feel this course could benefit your team, please get in touch on 01225 424376 or 01179 863268.
