Meet Sally Hart
Hart Funeral Celebrancy
I have been a funeral celebrant for about 5 years now.
I was lucky enough to be supported through my Diploma by Haycombe Cemetery and Bath and North East Somerset Council, but have now taken the opportunity to retire from full time work a little early, and set up as an Independent Funeral Celebrant.
It’s been an interesting journey to this point, having been a Secondary School Pastoral Guidance Manager, then a Registrar, registering births, deaths and marriages, and conducting many, many marriage services.
Yet I always felt drawn to working with the bereaved, which I was able to do during my time at Haycombe. The greatest privilege in my career was working alongside families in this capacity, and when the opportunity to step into my current role came along, I did not hesitate for a moment.
What is the most important thing that I have learned so far? That you must never assume how the death of a loved one will make people feel. That the emotion of grief is incredibly diverse and complicated, and that my role in that is to listen well and then try to capture that essence in a service that reflects exactly what is needed.
I have also learned that a funeral is very much a joint creation, from the moment that you visit the Funeral Director, to the appointment of a celebrant, to meeting with the family, something new and personal is created each time.
This is the journey that we all feel the privilege of travelling with you.
We are so grateful that you trust us with this.
Thank you
Sally
