It’s Rail Safety Week (15–21 June)

This week is a chance to stop and ask:
- Are our teams prepared?
- Are our systems working?
- Could we respond effectively if something went wrong?

Planning, training, and the right equipment all play a part, but it’s the decisions made on site that make the real difference.

If you’re reviewing your approach this week, we’re here to support — whether that’s training, equipment, or helping you plan for safer operations.

Working near an exposed edge in restraint?

One system isn’t always enough.

If there’s potential to fall in more than one direction, your setup needs to reflect that.

Are your confined spaces classified correctly?

Low, medium, and high risk only tell part of the story.

The NC system (NC1 → NCX) helps define:

- Entry method
- Risk level
- Control measures

And if that’s wrong → everything else follows.

This carousel breaks it down simply.

What happens when operational teams get hands-on with power ascenders in a real-world environment?

This video captures part of our recent demonstration day with Network Rail teams at Grateley Station, where workers tested the Skylotec ICX and ACX across realistic climbing and access scenarios.

And the feedback was clear:

From embankments and bridges to SRT work and difficult access areas, the conversations quickly moved beyond theory and into real operational applications.

One of the biggest takeaways from the day?

Seeing how teams interact with the equipment in realistic situations is exactly why REAX provide on-site demonstration days alongside training, hire, servicing and operational support.

A huge thank you to everyone involved on the day and to the teams who fully put the ICX through its paces.

If your team wants to see how power ascenders could support your operations, get in touch.

Can you use work restraint from a dorsal attachment?

Yes, but only if it’s set up and managed properly.

The goal of restraint is simple:
You should never be able to reach a fall position.
Because even in restraint, poor setup can still introduce risk.

Rail Safety Week is just around the corner (15–21 June).

Across the industry, it’s a chance to refocus on what really matters, keeping people safe on and around the railway.

But awareness is only part of it.

How are you delivering safety on site?

For many rail teams, access, time, and operational pressures make training and equipment deployment a challenge.

That’s where mobile solutions can make a real difference.

Our mobile training unit brings:
- Practical, on-site training
- Real equipment, in real environments
- Minimal disruption to operations

Helping teams stay compliant, capable, and ready when it matters.

Who’s calling for help in an emergency?

It sounds simple, but in reality, it’s often unclear.

In rescue situations, communication is critical.

Delays, confusion, or incomplete information can slow everything down.

That’s why having a clear structure matters.

In Episode 3 of our Rescue Specialist series, we break down:

- Who should call for help
- How that communication should happen
- And how to use a METHANE report to deliver clear, structured information

Simple, but essential.

When working at height, the goal isn’t to stop a fall…

It’s to prevent it happening in the first place.

Work restraint systems are designed to keep you away from the edge but only if they’re set up and used correctly.

In the full video we break down:

- How restraint systems work
- Why adjustability matters
- And how to stay protected as your position changes

The teams were intrigued… and they weren’t disappointed.

Recently, our own Keith teamed up with Jamie from Skylotec to deliver a hands-on power ascender demonstration day with Network Rail teams at Grateley Station.

Using the Skylotec ICX and ACX, teams explored how powered ascenders could support real operational challenges including:

- Embankments
- Bridges & viaducts
- SRT operations
- Difficult access areas
- Trackside working

What made the day valuable wasn’t just talking about the equipment, it was getting teams hands-on with it.

The ICX was properly put through its paces:
Rope handling, positioning around branches, moving through obstacles and testing how the device performs in realistic climbing situations.

The conversations quickly shifted from curiosity to:

“Where could we use this in our own teams?”

We provide:
1️⃣ Training
2️⃣ Hire
3️⃣ Servicing
4️⃣ Sales & support
5️⃣ On-site demo days

We’re currently putting together a full video from the day showcasing the demonstration - coming soon.

In the meantime, you can read the full breakdown of the demo day, photos, and how power ascenders could support rail and infrastructure operations:
