There was a recent story on the news regarding someone texting during a live theatre performance, would you think that was appropriate behaviour, would you do this, is it because some feel we have the right to experience an event how we want to regardless of the effect on other people, social media/phone addiction or just poor etiquette.

These are some of the reasons I thought of, but what do you think?

Does their own internal world makes their own desires feel more immediate, urgent, and "real" than the abstract, unseen experiences of others

Do individuals frequently assume that their personal values and behavioral choices are standard or widely shared.

Or do they genuinely believe their way of experiencing the world is universally accepted, which minimises the perceived harm to those around them.

Sometimes media and social media can be overwhelming.

Of course, it's a priviledge to be able to switch off from what's happening - but it's also okay to take media breaks for the sake of your mental health.

Both things can be true.

12 Daily Reminders, why not set this as your screensaver or home screen to remind yourself daily.

The past cannot be changed.
Opinions don't define your reality.
Everyone's journey is different.
Things will always get better over time.
Judgements are a confession of character.
Overthinking will lead to sadness.
Happiness is found within.
Positive thoughts create positive things.
Smiles are contagious.
Kindness is free.
You only fail if you give up.
What goes around, comes around.

Sometimes it's good to look at things from a different perspective.

Think to yourself how would I feel if I was them, would I be irrated or annoyed, if that happened to me how would I feel?

If two people have heated words, they each think they are in the right from their own perspective. Try and place yourself in the other person place.

How can two people perceive the same event differently?

The brain does not record reality like a camera; it constructs a representation of reality through analysis and synthesis of sensory information. Therefore, each person's perception of any given event will be unique, which explains why people can have such differing memories of the same event.

Letting go of anger.

Ask yourself, are you achieving anything by holding onto your anger or a grudge.
Would it make you feel better to just let it go?

Why am I holding onto my anger, what value is it to me.
What would happen if I exchanged my anger for forgiveness, how would I feel?
Consider how the situation has affected you so far.
See if you can find it within yourself to forgive the person, even if you can't forget.

Why do we feel guilty, when we choose to put ourselves first?

Often, we misunderstand self-prioritisation as being selfish.
It is not our fault, the societal pressure makes us believe that choosing your own happiness over others is simply being selfish.

This past experience leads to expectations and then to identity. These past standards include taking care of everyone else before yourself.

Your situation is unique to you, but often, it boils down to past learned behaviour through experience.

A few tips to feel less guilty

🙂Practice self-forgiveness.
😁Be open about your feelings.
😍Practice self-compassion.
🤜Stop negative self-talk.
🥸Seek professional help.

🏃‍♀️🌍 Global Running Day: More Than Just Miles

Today is a celebration of movement, but as a therapist, I’d like to highlight something that often goes unnoticed: running isn’t just good for the body—it’s also a powerful tool for mental wellbeing.

For many people, running creates space away from the noise of daily life. It can offer:
✨ A chance to process emotions
✨ Relief from stress and tension
✨ Improved mood through the release of feel-good chemicals
✨ A sense of accomplishment and self-trust
✨ Time to reconnect with yourself

You don’t have to be fast. You don’t have to run far. You don’t even have to call yourself a “runner.”

The value isn’t found in the distance or the pace. It’s found in showing up for yourself, one step at a time.

And if running isn’t your thing, that’s okay too. The broader message of today is about finding a form of movement that supports both your physical and emotional health.

What matters most is discovering what helps you feel grounded, present, and connected to yourself.

💚 On this Global Running Day, consider asking yourself:
“How can I move my body in a way that supports my mental wellbeing today?”

Gratitude
In a notebook or on your phone, write out One thing in your life

That Helps you grow
That lets you have fun
That gives you hope
That keeps you safe
That keeps you healthy
That helps you heal
That makes you feel loved

This week is Volunteers’ Week, an annual UK-wide campaign to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers.

Volunteering is a meaningful and rewarding way to support communities while also improving mental health.

Volunteering reduces stress, enhances mood, tackles loneliness, strengthens social connections and increases confidence.

It also provides a sense of purpose, encourages mindfulness, supports cognitive function and improves physical well-being.

Why not give volunteering a go.
