I have done many services for some lovely and amazing people and usually get a very nice comment or message from them after.
Today is just another example of a message I received this afternoon.
It does make me humble when receiving these messages, as I know personally the grief they are going through, having lost my mother and little sister very recently.
I am in wonderment that they find the time during their bereavement to send me a thank you message.
I am most grateful for their time and comments.

Civil Celebrants can help with the planning and organising of a funeral. They can provide guidance and advice around all elements of the ceremony and will officiate, or lead, the service on the day.

Their focus will be on creating a service that meets the needs and wishes of the family and that reflects the personality of the deceased. Emphasis will be on more of a ‘celebration of life’ and allows for greater flexibility in style and content.

As well as producing a script for the service and pulling together all the different elements, I can, if you wish, write and deliver the eulogy. I can put together a heartfelt tribute and deliver it sensitively and sincerely.

I will visit you in the comfort of your home, or meet at a place of your choosing, where we can talk about what you want me to include in the service, the running order and what happens on the day. There are many elements to a funeral service, some of which you may not be aware of, this is where my experience and expertise comes into play, by guiding you and offering suggestions. 🙏

As usual, I try to keep my plaudits to a minimum, as it could appear that I am only interested in self congratulation, (which I am not, as I am often humbled by the thanks I receive) but I have received a particularly nice email of appreciation from the sister of the deceased, whom I physically met for the first time at the Cemetery Chapel, as she lives nearly 300 miles away.

"Good afternoon Michael, the man in the suit, lol.
So sorry about that, but those few innocent but informative words made me laugh for the first time since hearing of my sister's final stay in hospital.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you yet again for the way you conducted my sister's funeral, your words of comfort and the support you offered me were more than anyone could ask for on such a sad day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

As always, I am loving my job, by supporting people during their most difficult time. The stories I write of their loved one's life and meeting the families means a lot to me. I am in awe sometimes of the strength and character shown by people who are grieving, but find the process of talking about their loved one's cathartic. Below are just a few comments emailed to me.

As said before, I am always humbled by people that send messages of thanks for the funeral service that I delivered. I always meet with the family before hand, go through the service and what to expect on the day. We discuss their requirements and content and I send them a draft copy to approve before the service; and present them with a copy of the service afterwards, in a nice envelope.

We would like to pass on our heartfelt thanks for the impact you had on how we were able to be supported to celebrate mum. There were so many nice touches that made a great difference.

Some kind words from the daughter of a lady whose service I delivered yesterday. This really means a lot.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Michael. Although you hadn’t met my mum, you led the funeral as if you were a family member.
I will never be able to thank you enough for the kindness that you have shown to the family. You allowed us to mourn, grieve and even laugh, and all the way through you were there to hold our hands.
